  7. Play with me!
  8. ------------
  9. Extract the distribution archive (obviously you've done this already). To
  10. test the program, type:
  11.  
  12.                             BCHECK LOCAL
  13.       
  14. Play the game awhile. Start a game and make a move, or use command #5
  15. and play a full game "against yourself." Start the full-screen chat mode. 
  16. Read the online game instructions. You won't be able to get the full 
  17. effect of BCheckers by yourself -- but if you think BCheckers is worthy of 
  18. putting on your BBS to try it out, come back to this file and read on.

  21. Back so soon? Good! Let's set up BCheckers for your BBS!

  23. Move the BCHECK.EXE, BCHECK.BBS and BCHECK.HOF files to a convenient 
  24. directory on your hard drive, along with the BCHECK1.CFG file. Edit this 
  25. config file using any text editor. Odds are good you'll only have to mess
  26. with the first two parameters -- BBSDir and DoorDir -- these are fully 
  27. explained in BCHECK1.CFG. Change these parameters to match the directory 
  28. names as needed for node #1 of your BBS.

  30. For additional nodes, copy BCHECK1.CFG to BCHECK2.CFG (or whatever number
  31. your other nodes are) and repeat. Now, set up a menu item in your BBS
  32. software to call the program as follows:

  34.     c:\path\to\exe\file\BCHECK.EXE c:\path\to\config\file\BCHECK?.CFG
  35.     
  36. Where ? is the node number. Most BBS software supply a "metacharacter" to
  37. put on the command line to make this easier. If yours does not, you may 
  38. have to make batch files -- just do what you need to do to call the
  39. program with the appropriate config file name for this node as the second
  40. parameter on the command line. If you're running multi-node, make sure you
  41. have SHARE.EXE (or the equivalent) loaded into memory. You're done!

  43. Come back to this file when you have run the game for maybe 30-60 days.
