When you download APV125.ZIP from any source, these are the files you *SHOULD*
receive in the archive. If you do not have any one of these files, you then
have a corrupted file. Please download a fresh copy from a Trustable source.
A "*" by the filename means you must keep the file.
AP.DOC : This is what you are reading right now.
*AP.CFG : This is a sample Configuration file. If you are going to
modify it (you will almost certainly have to), please use
the APCFG.EXE file included in this archive to configure
Aladdin's Palace.
*APBANK.CFG : This is a sample Bank Configuration file. If you are going
to modify it (you will almost certainly have to), please use
the APCFG.EXE file included in this archive to configure
the National Bank in Aladdin's Palace.
*AP.EXE : The executable file for Aladdin's Palace. This MUST be run at
all times if you are trying to run it. There are NO exceptions.
*APCFG.EXE : The Config File for Aladdin's Palace. You must run this before
you can install the program. You MUST answer all the questions.
Aladdin's Palace needs the configuration to ensure that it run
smoothly and operate bug-free.
FILE_ID.DIZ : Brief description of the features in Aladdin's Palace.
REGISTER.AP : Registration Form for Aladdin's Palace - See Page Three for more
Information regarding Registration.
*APINN.TXT : This is the conversation file for the Inn of Krondos in Aladdin's
Palace. It is used the exact same way Lord's is, so there should
be no problems with this one.
*IMPINN.TXT : This is the conversation file for the Imp Tavern. It is used the
exact same way Lord's is, so there should be no problems at all.
*APTXT.DAT : This is the Menu File for Aladdin's Palace.
WHATSNEW.125: This file lists all the new things in Version 1.25 of
Aladdin's Palace.
HISTORY.DOC : History of Aladdin's Palace.
OTHER.BFS : A list of other programs made by Blazing Fire Software.
PROMO.EXE : Promotional program which advertises the revolutionary new
upcoming door game from Blazing Fire Software!
Files Created by Aladdin's Palace after configuration and usage by players:
APUSER.DAT : This is the file that keeps all the users records in Aladdin's
Palace.
*REGISTER.DAT : This is the file which keeps track of who Aladdin's Palace is
registered to. Do *NOT* delete this file! If you are not
registered, the file is blank.
*REGISTER.KEY : This is the file which keeps your Aladdin's Palace registration
code. If you are un-registered, then this file is blank.

"Is this product crippled in any way, shape, or form?"
The answer is: Nope. Aladdin's Palace is released essentially as Freeware.
That is, this product is not crippled in any way whatsoever. If you wish to
"register" Aladdin's Palace, please fill out REGISTER.AP, a file which is
included in this archive. Please keep in mind, though, it will NOT unlock
any features and/or hidden things!
"But you said in the Lord echo it was going to be FreeWare!"
It is, in a sense. You need not register it at all. If you do like this
product, a small donation to me would be nice, and would serve notice to
me that I should continue making these programs.
By registering this product, you are making Aladdin's Palace a bigger and
better game all around.
Registering this program is a one-time thing. Free Updates in every version.
However, I can't send the versions to each one of my users, actually getting
the newest version will be left up to you.
"How do I register your fine product?"
The quickest way is by filling out the REGISTER.AP file included in this
archive, and mail it to me at my address (shown in the "How to get in contact
with the author section - Page Nine). As of right now, I run a BBS, but I
don't have an online registration program as of yet. Your code should be
ready right away, and I'll send it ASAP. If it takes longer than 2 weeks,
let me know. I might have messed up somewhere.

Aladdin's Palace is an (I)n (G)ame (M)odule (IGM for short) for Seth Able
Robinson's Legend of the Red Dragon (Lord for short). This program, along
with all other IGM's out there, runs from the (O)ther Places option in Lord.
The APCFG.EXE file offers relatively quick and easy installation, offering
total sysop configuration of just about everything included in this program.
Installation is a snap - Just fill out the configuration, and then (I)nstall
(or move the check mark and press enter on install) from the Main Menu of the
APCFG.EXE file.
Uninstallation is as easy as possible. If for some reason, you do not wish
to have Aladdin's Palace online any longer, simply Press (U)ninstall (or move
the check mark and press enter on uninstall) and it's gone.
Aladdin's Palace offers a wide range features and options:
o Uses File-Locking.
o Uses's Lord's INFO.<NodeNum> - Reads no external DropFile!
o TOTAL SysOp Configuration!
o *THREE* (Yes, thats right - THREE) Random, hidden things in
Aladdin's Throne Room (See hints and tips for explanations of each)
o *ELEVEN* (Yes, thats right - ELEVEN) Random, hidden things while
fighting in the Cavern of Doom (See Random Events section for
explanations of each)
o Non-Crippled! Everything is available in this version as it
is in the Registered Version!
o Registration is Just $3.00! A great value!
o Free Upgrades! Registration is a one-time thing!
o Miscellaneous Shop - Rename Weapons, Armours, and Alias.
o Training Center - Receive Hit Points, Charm, Defense, and
Strength, depending on how you answer the Master's question!
o Weapon and Armour shop - New Weapons and Armours!
o Horse Shop - Buy and Sell horses!
o Flirting! Males flirt with Jasmine, Females flirt with Aladdin!
o Play BlackJack with the Palace Guard!
o Find Aladdin's Genie Lamp! When asking for a wish, the Genie
might actually be Jafar and take what you ask for!
o Hidden Arena! Find Iago the Parrot, and he'll sell you a ticket!
Bet on a match and you might win!
o Treasure Vault! Find some gold and gems!
o Inactivity TimeOut in 3 minutes. If the user does not touch a
key in three minutes, Aladdin's Palace will remove then from
the IGM and back to Lord.
o Multi-Node support!
o RIP Support! (Though there are no RIP Graphics currently,
there will be some nice ones soon!)
o SysOp Chat with the user while in Aladdin's Palace! Press F2
to chat, escape to exit.
o Status Bar for the SysOp's end! Add time, remove time, toggle
information bar, remove user from Aladdin's Palace, and more.
o Uses LogNow.Txt file to log what has happened to a user while
she/he is in Aladdin's Palace.
o Chat in the Inn of Krondos!
o Spend the night at the Inn of Krondos! (This was the VERY first
IGM to use this feature!)
o Deposit and withdraw Gold in the Bank!
o Deposit and withdraw Gems in the Bank!
o Deposit Forest and Player Fights in the Bank!
o Deposit and withdraw your Weapon and/or Armour in the Bank!
(This option I included is because alot of the users up here
sent me suggestions that they hate it when their weapon or
armour gets stolen from John Hutton's Socrate's Shop IGM, so
I implemented this)
o Deposit and withdraw Fairie's in Fairie's-R-Us!
o Deposit and withdraw Horse's in The Horse Stables!
o Added Customizable Menus! APTxt.Dat is the file which you
can modify. If modified in any way, you CANNOT distribute
it, though.
o Find the Imp Tavern in the Caverns! VERY hard to find, but
VERY good if you do!
o Random Events depending on your character class in the Caverns!
o Works under Dos, Windows, Desqview, and More!
o Regarded as 100% Bug-Free - But one can never be too sure!
As you can see, I've spent alot of hours on this. I've tried to make it as
best as possible, offering a wide range of options for the users to use while
playing their favourite door game, Lord.

The quickest, and simplest way to install Aladdin's Palace is:
(1) - Run APCFG.EXE.
(2) - Go into Configuration Menu in APCFG.EXE.
(3) - Answer ALL questions.
(4) - Go into Bank Configuration Menu in APCFG.EXE
(5) - Answer ALL questions.
(6) - Quit back to Main Menu and (I)nstall.
(7) - That should be it! Yes, its that easy!

There are about 11 Random Events that can happen to the users while they are
fighting in the Cavern of Doom. They are:
The Imp Tavern!
This place is VERY hard to get, but VERY good if you do find it!
In it, there are several things to do. 1. Talk to Minus, the Imp Magician,
and ask him for a blessing! You will have to pass a Gladiator Dragon Match
(You guess which Dragon you think will win out of three Dragons). If you
are correct, you will get to ask Minus whatever attribute you wish to have
raised! 2. Talk to Dinine, the Imp Thief, and ask him to steal you an item!
He could double-cross you, and steal your National Bank Account Card, taking
10% of your total cash contained in it! If not, he will either find a Fairy
or a Horse for you! 3. Chat with the Bartendar, and he will exchange VALUABLE
Information for One Gem! There are 16 different sayings for this, ranging
from hints on how to get different things in the Palace, as well as what some
of the Random Events in the Cavern do for you. Create a Drink at the Bar and
it could either hurt or help you out! Ask about the Class Random Events from
the Bartendar (This explains what the random events are for each class. Ex,
if you are a Thief you will get a random event that deals with the Thief's
attributes, and if you are a Magician, it will be something to do with the
Magician's attributes). 4. Converse with the Patrons!
The Master Thieves!
If you are a Thief, this is just one of the random events specifically
for Thieves. The Master Thieves are looking for the Dragon Scale, which is
only found in the Red Dragon Cave. If you accept the challenge of trying to
steal the Scale for the Thieves, you will be lead straight to the Dragon Cave.
The Dragon is asleep when you enter his Cave, but when you are trying to get
the Scale, the Dragon might or might not wake up. You will not be killed at
any time in the Dragon's Cave, so don't worry about it attacking you. If you
are successful, the Master Thieves will reward you by giving you an extra
Thieving Skill Use Point.
The Kidnapped Orcs!
If you are a Thief, this is just one of the random events specifically
for Thieves. A hideous Trolls has kidnapped a family of Orcs, and one has
escaped, running and screaming for help from you. If you wish to help him
out, you will attack the Troll with a vengeance. You will not die in this
battle, your hit points will drop to 1. If you win in the battle, you will
rescue the family and find a treasure well worth your time.
The Warlock!
If you are a Magician, this is just one of the random events
specifically for Magicians. The Warlock wanders around, wanting to test
budding Magicians, for he likes to play games with you. When you meet up with
him, he will give you a test. This test is to try and summon an elemental from
an outer plain of existance - not Earth. When casting, try to summon an
elemental from a plain that you know exists, and it could increase your chances.
There is a chance of you failing, but if you succeed, the Warlock will reward
you by giving you an extra Mystical Skill Use Point.
The Lengendary Wizard, Merlin!
If you are a Magician, this is just one of the random events
specifically for Magicians. A cloaked figure will approach you, asking if
you wish to find the legendary Staff of Merlin. If you accept, you will
have to pass to Mystical Traps that lies before the Staff. Listen CLOSELY
to what the figure has to say, it could very well help you out. If you pass
both tests (there's no chance of you dieing), you will find the Staff, and
a surprise.
The Group of Death Knights!
If you are a Death Knight, this is just one of the random events
specifically for Death Knights. The Knights are killing monsters in the
Caverns, just like you. If you should happen to meet up with the Knights,
you will be challenged to a battle by the Master Knight. If you accept,
choose a weapon for battle that you know is strong, there are a few weapons
that you can choose from for battle. You will not die in the battle, your
hit points will just go down to 1. If you should succeed in battle against
the Master Knight, they will reward you by giving you an extra Death Knight
Skill Use Point.
The EXCALIBUR Sword!
If you are a Death Knight this is just one of the random events
specifically for Death Knights. While killing monsters in the Cavern, you
may spot a sword embedded in Sword about 100 yards from you. There is a
pit that lies before the Sword, and there is a rope line that stretches
across it. You can either Tite-Rope the pit, or go Hand-Over-Hand across
it. If you should make it, the reward will be WELL worth it.
The Merry Men!
If you come across the Merry Men, your hit points will be healed
completely. (taken from Lord's Forest)
The Hammer Stone!
If you come across the Legendary Hammer Stone, you will have the
chance of breaking it over your Weapon. This is taken from Lord's forest,
but with an added twist. There is a 50% chance that the Hammer Stone will
do nothing to your weapon, the other 50% is that it will increase your
strength.
The Golden Fountain!
If you come across the Legendary Golden Fountain, you will have the
option of dipping your armour into the water. There is a 50% chance that when
you dip your armour into the water, it will do nothing at all. The other 50%
will increase your defensive strength.
The Steaming Elixir!
While fighting monsters, you could come across a steaming elixir.
You have the option of drinking it, or leaving it alone. The elixir will
either help or hurt you, depending on a few attributes the character has.

There are three hidden, random things in Aladdin's Palace Throne Room. There
are MUCH more in the Caverns, those are explained in the Random Events Section.
In Aladdin's Palace Throne Room, they are:
The Genie!
There is a 1 in 10 chance of falling down the pit and coming across
two of Aladdin's Magical Lamps. The user must choose which one to rub, or
she/he can abort it altogether. There is a 50% chance that the lamp the
user rubs is either the Genie, or Jafar.
The user will not know if it is either one until they ask for a wish.
Jafar will take what the user asked for, the Genie will give it. How much
they give is SysOp Configurable. This option can only happen once per day.
The Thief!
There is a 1 in 10 chance of spotting the Treasure Vault. If the
user wishes to enter, she/he will be struck unconscious. When they awaken,
they will have the option of either confronting the thief (the thief is
stealing gold from the vault), or staying where they are. If they stay
where they are, a short while after the thief leaves, a Palace Guard comes
and removes them from the Vault.
If the user chooses to confront the Thief, there is a 50% chance
that the Thief will knock them out again before they have a chance to get
up. If that happens, the Thief runs away and a short while later, a Palace
Guard removes you from the Vault.
If the Thief does not knock the user out, they will fight. If the
user should win, they will get 500 gold for every level they are on (ie, if
the user is on level 6 they will get 3000 gold), and 2 gems for every level
they are on (ie if they are on level 6, they will get 12 gems). After the
fight, a Palace Guard hears noises from within the Vault, and removes you
from the area. This option can only happen once per day.
The Arena!
There is a 1 in 10 chance of meeting Iago, the Parrot. If the user
does meet him, Iago will offer the user a ticket to the Palace Arena for a
price of $1,000,000.
If the user goes, she/he can bet on a Gladiator match. The max bet
is $1,000,000 so it can't pay back too much. There are Five Rounds of attacks
for the fighters. The one who has more hits in the end wins. The user bets
on who she/he thinks will win. If they bet right, they win double their
money back. There is a 50% chance that the Gladiator will hit, and a 50%
chance the Vigilante will hit. A Green X is a hit for the Gladiator, a Blue
X is a hit for the Vigilante. This option can only happen once per day.

Gambling with the guard is unique in a few ways. I have tried to make the
Dealer (guard) as "Smart" as a real human dealer would be. There are
BlackJack's, 52 Card Deck, Aces can be counted as one or eleven - the user
gets prompted to ask what they want to count it as.

Flirting with Aladdin and Jasmine. You need a specific amount of Charm
to do each option when flirting with them. Males flirt with Jasmine,
Females flirt with Aladdin. Each option gives you a specific amount of
experience if Aladdin or Jasmine comply with what the user wants to do.
Some options, if Jasmine or Aladdin reject the user, will drop the user's
hit points to One.

As of this writing, there are no known bugs in Aladdin's Palace. However, one
can never be too sure. If you happen to spot a bug, major or minor, PLEASE
write me a message in the Lord or Doorgames echo, or on the Internet, telling
me what type of system you run (ie, multi-node, bbs software, etc), and try
to explain it as best as possible. I can't fix it if I don't know its there.
