  1. AutoIcon Has Grown Up!

  3. The original AutoIcon V0.0a took me 30 minutes to write. It attempted to
  4. detect a caller's RIP Icons and, without questioning, attempted to Zmodem
  5. transfer anything it could not find on the caller's system.

  7. AutoIcon now boasts an involved feature list:
  8.  
  9. FORCED FILES:
  10. <Sysop Selection>
  11. Tired of trying to convince callers to download a rules file, application, or
  12. archive of needed files? AutoIcon will transfer a file or archive to every
  13. caller who enters the door. (Presumably everybody if you add this door to your
  14. Logon Sequence.) Since AI Logs it's activity, callers will only receive this
  15. file once instead of upon every entry. (Unless you clear the log). This option
  16. may also be shut off in the configuration.

  18. SELECTIVE ICON UPDATE:
  19. <User Selection> 
  20. AI will inform the caller of the Icons they're missing and prompt them one at
  21. a time as for whether they want the missing Icon or not. This option places
  22. the Icons into the caller's ICON subdirectory, making them available for use
  23. immediately and without user intervention.

  25. MASS ICON UPDATE:

  27. AI will first inform the caller of the Icons they're missing, then transfer
  28. them all in sequence to the user's Icon subdirectory, making them available
  29. for use immediately and without user intervention.

  31. ARCHIVE TRANSFER:

  33. For more experienced Callers, a .ZIP or .ARJ archive containing ALL of the
  34. Icons may be transferred. While this may cause some duplication of Icons
  35. (which simply either won't extract or will just overwrite the previously
  36. existing one), it can save several minutes when transferring large icons, or
  37. lots of them.

  39. DOORGAME COMPATABILITY:
  40. AI now logs it's activities based upon the name of the .CFG file used on the
  41. command line. This means for Non-RIP doors that offer a stand-alone terminal
  42. (BBS Crash, LOD, The Pit, etc...) you can FORCE FILE the terminal 1x when the
  43. door is entered. For RIP games that require Icons and don't offer internal
  44. Icon transfer and install, AI will send those over automatically with the
  45. options listed above!

  47. ICON't See You Mode
  48. Registered Sysops may now make AutoIcon INVISIBLE! It checks the callers icons
  49. and automatically sends them any icons that are missing. No AutoIcon displays,
  50. no prompting. Local ANSI screen still displays for Sysop confirmation that all
  51. is working well.

  53. Best of all, AutoIcon isn't crippled! Quit beating your head on the wall
  54. explaining about Icon changes and answering letters about improper menu display
  55. due to missing Icons. Make sure your callers are getting the rules and ap-
