  10. ConnectNET was started February 17, 1996 between Devcon BBS (the NC) and
  11. and Len's Flying Quintet (the AC).  The node numbering system is an easy
  12. to follow system, with a permanent node assigned on a +1 basis, @1 being
  13. the NC, @2 the AC, (the area coordinators in ConnectNET are in charge of
  14. new systems) and @3 the SLC.  @4 is the permanent number of the original
  15. NC, @5 is held for the original AC.  @6 is the first "real" node.

  20.             Network & Group Coordinators

  22. The NC is a lifelong position unless the NC resigns or has 90 percent of
  23. the network's votes to remove the current NC.  Then the NC will initiate
  24. a general election held for a new NC.  The election will be the same way
  25. an AC or SLC election is held (explained later in the docs)  The NC will
  26. also be the GC for Group 1, unless the NC wishes to appoint someone else
  27. to the position.  The GC will handle all the responsabilities of NC, and
  28. forward any and all changes to the NC for distribution.

  30. The NC will be responsable for:
  31.        ■ Network support
  32.        ■ Sending out updates
  33.        ■ Receiving applications
  34.        ■ Counting votes
  35.        ■ Keeping the net running up to speed

  37. The GC will be responsable for:
  38.        ■ Sending updates to the NC
  39.        ■ Getting nodes running in their group
  40.        ■ Helping the NC run the network

  45.                Other Coordinators
  46.  
  47.      The AC (Area Coordinator) is the NC's assitant, and has a 6 month
  48. term.  Voting will be discussed later, the AC can only be removed when
  49. the AC resigns or 2/3 (or more) of the net wants the AC removed.  (The
  50. same holds true for the SLC).  Both the AC and the SLC are voted on in
  51. specified months.  The AC voting is in March and September, the SLC is
  52. voted on in January and July.  The incumbant needs below 1/3 the votes
  53. to be defeated.  If there is no incumbant, or if the incumbant has the
  54. under 1/3 the votes, majority wins.  Voting will be based upon all the
  55. sysops voting.  Only one vote is allowed for each BBS.

  57. The AC will be responsable for:
  58.        ■ Setting up connections
  59.        ■ Helping new sysops get the net set up correctly
  60.        ■ Helping the NC in whatever way is needed
  61.  
  62. The SLC will be responsable for:
  63.        ■ Setting up the subs.lst
  64.        ■ Making sure the subs.lst is always up to date
  65.  
  66.      New nodes will be allowed unless 25% of the sysops have reason to
  67. reject them.  The reason must be valid.  Unregistered WWIV BBSes / net
  68. software is allowed, but registration is highly encouraged.  No system
  69. with illegally modded source code will be allowed in the network, plus
  70. no system with any illegal files will be allowed.  Knowledge or taking
  71. part in any illegal activities over the net is not permitted and is an
  72. immediate reason to be removed from the net.  75% voting is the normal
  73. required number of votes to be removed from the network.  Only user #1
  74. on a BBS is allowed to vote.

  79.                 Connections

  81.      The AfterMath WNY Server is available to connect to for local and
  82. long distance connections.  It will callout to long distance BBSs that
  83. have four more nodes connecting to it.  It is @1716 on ConnectNET, and
  84. the Group 1 GC.
  85.      Connections may also be made to @1 if connecting to @1716 isn't a
  86. possibility for a sysop.

  91. General Network Rules:
  92.        1) Taglines are NOT permitted on the network.
  93.        2) Private BBSes are allowed, but will have [PVT] next to their
  94.       name, and their phone will be listed "716-ZZZ-XXXX" with ZZZ
  95.       being the zone code.
  96.        3) Part Time BBSes are allowed also, but will have [PT] next to
  97.       their name.  Their FULL PHONE will be listed.
  98.        4) The WNY-GEN and WNY-SYS subs are required subs.
  99.        5) Gating subs is NOT encouraged, but will be permitted.
