└────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
I. Introduction.
WWIV CFL is a utility which creates a file listing suitable for download and
printing. The major improvement over other such utilities is WWCFL's ability
to include only a specific conference and/or directories of a specific DSL.
This is extremely useful for generating different listings for different parts
of your BBS.
II. Installation.
To install WWIV CFL, simply copy WWCFL.EXE to your main WWIV directory. WWCFL
needs no external files, as it reads your CONFIG.DAT and directory information
files from DATA\ directory. No files are modified. WWCFL creates its listing
in a file named FILES.BBS which will be sent to your GFILES directory.
WWCFL uses ANSI.SYS rather than graphic screen calls for cursor positioning and
colors. I hope I'm accurate in assuming most Sysops will have ANSI.SYS loaded,
but if not the list will look really bad! Drop me a note and I can compile it
with no effects if you need.
III. Usage.
The simplest way to use WWCFL is just type "WWCFL" at the DOS prompt. This
creates a listing of all files in all directories within all conferences, ie.
a master file listing. Most folks will use WWCFL within a batch file and as
part of a daily external event, though. If you already have a downloadable
master file listing in one of your WWIV BBS directories, your external event
batch file can freshen the listing as part of your daily event.
If "New Uploads" was in the directory path "D:\UPLOADS\" the following commands
will refresh the list each day:
WWCFL
PKZIP -M D:\UPLOADS\FILELIST.ZIP GFILES\FILES.BBS
In addition, WWCFL will take several command line parameters to adjust your
listing:
WWCFL <DSL> <CONFERENCE DESIGNATOR> <-T> <-?>
<DSL> is the highest directory security level, as specified in //DIREDIT, to
include in the list, e.g. "WWCFL 100" would generate a listing of all files in
all directories which would be visible to a user with DSL 100.
<CONFERENCE DESIGNATOR> is the conference designator, as listed in //CONFEDIT,
to generate a listing of directories within that conference, e.g. "WWCFL A"
would include all directories in conference "A".
<-T> tells WWCFL to include the "Top Ten Downloads" as a separate portion of
the listing. When specified, the most popular downloads will be displayed at
the top of the listing before the rest of the directories.
<-?> produces a brief help screen on usage.
All parameters (except "Help") can be used in conjunction with one another.
For example, "WWCFL 100 S -T" would create a listing of all files in Conference
"S" visible to DSL 100, and will also create the Top Ten Downloads listing at
the top of the file.
IV. Registration.
Registration is only $5.00!
In addition to the good feeling you'll get by registering this program and the
encouragement you'll give me to work on future modifications and utilities,
the registered version also removes the 15 second delay upon completing a file
listing and enables you to name the output file to something other than
FILES.BBS in your GFILES\ directory.
Users who send $20 (or more!) will receive my undying gratitude and the full
source code to WWCFL on diskette.
