  3. Welcome to the remote USBBS List Update program.

  5. This program will allow you to
  6.  
  7.   √ add a new entry to the list
  8.   √ update an existing entry on the list
  9.   √ request deletion of an existing entry on the list
  10.

  12.              WHY HAVE AN UPDATE PROGRAM?
  13.  
  14. The USBBS list is selective in the boards that it lists.
  15. Through experience, we have found that messages sent to
  16. the editor do NOT carry enough information to assure that
  17. the board can be accurately listed.  This script assures that
  18. complete information is collected and minimizes the time
  19. spent communicating updates to the editor.
  20.  
  21.                 HOW WILL IT WORK?
  22.  
  23. This program will append information to a text file "USBBS.DAT"
  24. You can then mail this file to the address(es) supplied below or
  25. upload it directly to BOBsBBS (916-929-7511).
  26.  
  27. To most effectively use this program, you should do the
  28. following:
  29.  
  30. √ Read the requirements for new boards on the list
  31. √ Have the most current edition of the USBBS list available
  32.   and removed from the archive.  The file will be in the
  33.   format USBBSxxx.LST where "xxx" is the edition number.
  34.  
  35. The program itself is a duplicate of the script on BOBsBBS
  36. (916-929-7511).

  39. │ NOTE: Calling BOBsBBS is still the *BEST* way to assure that your │
  40. │ board's information will be updated.  I cannot guarantee that     │
  41. │ updates send through Internet Mail will be received and applied   │

  45.                   HOW TO SEND THE UPDATE
  46.  
  47. This program produces the file USBBS.DAT. This file
  48. contains the information necessary to update the board(s)
  49. you have entered.
  50.  
  51. Mail or Upload USBBS.DAT by one of the following methods:
  52.  
  53. Internet Mail to:  bobsbbs!update@sactoh0.SAC.CA.US
  54. Upload to       :  BOBsBBS (916-929-7511)
  55.                    Upload to the special option in the
  56.                    (O)ther BBS (P)hone list feature.
  57.  
  58.  *** DO NOT Compress USBBS.DAT when uploading it. ***
  59.  
  60. If all information is complete and the board is accepted,
  61. it will be listed in the next version of the USBBS list
  62. after the update is received.

  64. A final note:  This list is updated as a HOBBY and public
  65. service by Bob Breedlove.  Every attempt is made to make
  66. sure that qualified boards are accurately and quickly updated.

  68. The BEST way to assure that your board is considered is to call
  69. BOBsBBS directly at 916-929-7511.  You can use the caller ID
  70. "USBBS UPDATE" (no password) to update your BBS entry quickly and
  71. easily.  You can also upload the UPDATE.DAT file produced by
  72. USBBSUP from this menu.
