Documentation
Okay. First of all, I am in no way responsible for any problems occurring
when this program is in use. This program is FreeWare. This means that you have
absolutely no obligation to register this program or send any donation. It is
in no way crippled. I would, however, appreciate any donations that were made.
Please send them to the address given at the end of this file. Please
distribute this program
freely.
I created SecMessage because I had noticed that on some BBS's other than
SLBBS they had a different message displayed for each Security level. I liked
this idea, so I created a similar program for SLBBS. It reads a text or ANSI
file (with the extension of .TXT or .ANS) to the screen. Which file is
dependent on the user's security level.
Syntax: SECMSG <Security Level> <Graphics>
The filename for the message must be SECnnn.xxx where nnn is the security
level and xxx is either ANS or TXT. If SecMsg can''t find an ANS file for
an ansi user, it will default to TXT.
<Graphics> must be [N]one, [M]onochrome, or [C]olor
Set your BBS settings to send all output to the modem.
Run SECMSG with no parameters for a menu of the commands.
The user can break out of the message with Contol-C or Space.
SECMSG will exit with an ERRORLEVEL 0 if successful, or an ERRORLEVEL 1
if an error occured during runtime.
For SecMessage to work, you must create text and ANSI files with the names
of SECnnn.TXT AND SECnnn.ANS where nnn is the security level. These files must
be in the same directory as SECMSG.EXE. If you do not have an .ANS file for an
ANSI user, the program will default to .TXT. If the file is not present, SecMsg
will tell the user that there is no message for that particular security level.
Any suggestions or comments or notification of problems would be appreciated.
Send them through E-Mail on any BBS to me under the handle of THE STOWAWAY or
JEF PEARLMAN, call my bbs (Stowe BBS) at 201-467-7870 (I am "SYSOP" there), or
