[2].WHAT THIS PROGRAM DOES.
---------------------------
Not too long ago one of my favorite BBS's changed around its conference and
file directories.Since I use robocomm on a daily basis to make unattended
calls to this particular system, it completely threw my Available Files list
and my agenda(s) off track. I searched through Robocomm looking for a way
to change to conference number of the files that had changed conferences.
Well to my surprise there was no way of doing it,short of deleting all of
the available files, calling the system up,doing a complete file search from
01/01/80 and then going through thousands of files deleting the ones I either
didn't need/want, or had already downloaded. Since the databases Robocomm
uses were dBASE compatible, I decided to write this little utility to change
the conference numbers without have to go through the ordeal described above.
It worked like a champ!
------------------------
[3].SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
------------------------
This program should run on any IBM PC or Compatible running MS-DOS or PC-DOS
3.1 or later with at least 384KB of RAM. If you have any problems please
feel free to contact me in one of the above mentioned ways or leave me mail
in the Fidonet DBASE Conference. This program has only been tested with
RoboComm 4.2 but should work on later releases as long as the newfiles
database name does not change. I will post updates as RoboComm changes in
the future.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COMPRESS THIS UTILITY WITH PKLITE! IT USES INTERNAL
OVERLAYS THAT WILL CAUSE THE PROGRAM TO FAIL IF IT IS PKLITE'D!
-----------------------------
[4]. HOW TO USE THIS PROGRAM:
-----------------------------
There is not much really to this program. It will ask you four questions:
1) Where is your Robocomm System located. Use the drive and path without a
trailing backslash (\), i.e. C:\ROBOCOMM as opposed to C:\ROBOCOMM\.
C:\ROBOCOMM is the default Drive and Directory but you can change it if
yours is located somewhere else.
2) What BBS System Conference Needs to Be Changed. Which bbs' conference
listing (files) do you want to change.
3) What conference would you like to change. The name or number of the
conference you want to change.
4) What would you like to change it to. The name or number to change the
conference to.
Pressing <RETURN> by itself on Question two will result in the program
exiting to dos with no update to your newfiles database.
Thats all there is to it!
