└───────────────────────┘
Upgrade procedure for users of ProBoard v1.20
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
You don't have to do anything special in order to upgrade to this version.
If you are using an earlier version, you'll have to follow the procedure
described below:
Upgrade procedure for users of ProBoard v1.15-1.17
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- Make a backup of your USERS.PRO file!
- Extract the v1.20 archive in your ProBoard directory, overwriting all
executables.
- Run CONVERT PB
It is normal that the conversion utility reports "Already converted" for
some files. The USERS.PRO file will be deleted and 4 new files will be
created in your message base directory: USERS.BBS,USERSXI.BBS,LASTREAD.BBS
and USERSPB.BBS
- Run PROCFG and go to the <Options> <Text Strings>, and exit PROCFG. You
will be asked if you want to save changes.
- You might want to check all the configuration parameters, because some
new options were added in ProCFG.
- Run PBUTIL UF
- READY!
** NOTE: DO NOT COMPRESS PROBOARD.EXE with an EXE-file compression utility! **
Changes since v1.20
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- Quiet mode (-Q) is now REALLY quiet. (except for attention and page tunes)
- When the user exceeds the maximum password retries, ProBoard will allow the
the user to post a message to the sysop.
- The MK and MR modules from PBUTIL have now been eliminated. The message
packer will now handle the repair of a damaged message base. It will also
kill old messages while packing (if told to do so)
- It's now possible to specify a "system password" for ProBoard. When enabled,
ProBoard will ask for a fixed password before asking the user for a name.
- Function 49 (Change msg area) now accepts a data field similar to the
"change file area" function, allowing greater flexibility.
- New shell parameter: *O will be replaced with the path to the cvurrent
file area.
- New shell parameter: *_ will tell ProBoard not to write underscores instead
of spaces when writing the file DORINFOx.DEF. Needed for all Motor City
doors.
- The following options have been added for the functions "Goto Menu",
"Gosub Menu" and "Goto Menu & Clear":
- /M=+ Set next accessible message area
- /M=- Set prev accessible message area
- /F=+ Set next accessible file area
- /F=- Set prev accessible file area
- It's now possible to specify a list of filenames that don't affect the
user's download limit (free files).
- A new configuration option in the file areas setup allows you to specify
a file area as being free.
- Support for multiple directories per file area!
- You can now customize the following functions with lots of parameters:
* Toggle ANSI
* Toggle ClearScreen
* Toggle More
* Toggle Avatar/0
* Toggle Avatar/0+
* Toggle FsEd
- "Fast mode" is now really fast.
- New SDK functions: SetFullColor()
ExternalInput()
GotoXY()
putenv()
ErrorLevel()
ClrEol().
GetIniVar()
SetIniVar()
- New mode for the SDK function "Input()" : INPUT_PWD (or together with
another mode value if you want ProBoard to display the configured
password character while typing something)
- Bug fix: '|' did not work in the modem init-string
- Bug fix: An empty user record was sometimes written to disk when shelling.
- Bug fix: When running standalone, the logon/logoff times in the list of
last callers were wrong.
- Bug fix: The -L<level> command line option now works fine when new users
are logging on.
- Bug fix: all lastread-pointer problems should now be fixed (important when
using external mail readers)
- Bug fix: ANSI detection has been fixed.
- Bug fix: lastread pointer stored in user record is now updated after
renumbering the message base.
