  4. ▐▌   This is a  listing of features available with  MarkMail that make▐▌
  5. ▐▌it one of the Best mail  systems available. This door was created to▐▌
  6. ▐▌overcome  the  shortcomings  of  other  mail  systems,  it  was also▐▌
  7. ▐▌designed with speed of operation in mind.                           ▐▌
  8. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  9. ▐▌                  Offline Configuration Changes                     ▐▌
  10. ▐▌                  -----------------------------                     ▐▌
  11. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  12. ▐▌   The  MarkMail  door  has  been  designed  with  a  philosophy  of▐▌
  13. ▐▌automated online operations and thus almost all of the configuration▐▌
  14. ▐▌items  can be  manipulated using  an offline  reader. The  method of▐▌
  15. ▐▌achieving this is  with a message sent to  'MARKMAIL'. The following▐▌
  16. ▐▌is a list of those commands and examples.                           ▐▌
  17. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  18. ▐▌                        ADD a Conference                            ▐▌
  19. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  20. ▐▌   You can add a conference offline by sending a message to MarkMail▐▌
  21. ▐▌with a  subject of ADD. You  can also update your  last message read▐▌
  22. ▐▌pointers with this command. Example:                                ▐▌
  23. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  24. ▐▌                   To: MARKMAIL                                     ▐▌
  25. ▐▌              Subject: ADD <Number>                                 ▐▌
  26. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  27. ▐▌   If the number  is a positive number, the  number will become your▐▌
  28. ▐▌new last message  read pointer. If the number  is a negitive number,▐▌
  29. ▐▌the number will be subtracted from  the high message base number and▐▌
  30. ▐▌that will  become your last message  read pointer. If the  number is▐▌
  31. ▐▌ommited, nothing will be done to your last message read pointer.    ▐▌

  33. ▐▌                       DROP a Conference                            ▐▌
  34. ▐▌                                                                    ▐▌
  35. ▐▌   You  can  drop  a  conference  offline  by  sending  a message to▐▌
  36. ▐▌MarkMail with a subject of DROP. Example:                           ▐▌

  41. ▐▌   This command will NOT affect your last message read pointer.     ▐▌

  45. ▐▌   You can turn  reception of Bulletins On or Off  with a message to▐▌

  61. ▐▌   You  can turn  reception of  the  Deluxe  Menu On  or Off  with a▐▌

  67. ▐▌                 Forcing Non-Echo'ed Messages                       ▐▌

  70. ▐▌   Due to the older PCBoard message format the existing mail readers▐▌
  71. ▐▌use,  there  is  no  provision  for  non-echoed  mail  in  an echoed▐▌
  72. ▐▌conference. MarkMail  thus provides a  method to enter  'local' mail▐▌
  73. ▐▌into  an echoed  conference. Simply  preface the  subject with 'NE:'▐▌
  74. ▐▌this  stands for  No Echo.  MarkMail will  remove the  NE: from  the▐▌
  75. ▐▌subject field prior to insertion. Example:                          ▐▌

  78. ▐▌              Subject: NE:Local Sleepy Messages                     ▐▌

  84. ▐▌   MarkMail  places into  the BBS_ID.QWK  file a  pointer file  that▐▌
  85. ▐▌contains  your last  message read   pointers. If  you should  lose a▐▌
  86. ▐▌BBS_ID.QWK, you  can go back  to a previous  BBS_ID.QWK and get  the▐▌
  87. ▐▌BBS_ID.PNT  file, place  it into   a BBS_ID.REP  and upload  it into▐▌
  88. ▐▌MarkMail.  Your pointers  will now  be reset  to prior  to the  lost▐▌
  89. ▐▌BBS_ID.QWK.                                                         ▐▌
