  35.      I must be an idiot.. I forgot to clean up the file "number" tagging
  36.      before releasing gamma 9, so now I have to release gamma 10 just for
  37.      this.  Ohwell.  Sue me.  :)

  39.      In previous versions, to enter a file number, you had to enter a # sign,
  40.      and then the file number.  (example:  #12 for file 12).  This has been
  41.      fixed up, so you can simply enter the number 12 for file 12.. the # sign
  42.      is no longer required.  Smack me for being too lazy to do this in the
  43.      first place.

  52.      ■ Added support for ARK archives.  ARK archives are in the same format
  53.        as ARC archives, but use a different extension.

  55.      ■ Added "?" help to the menu that appears while a user is viewing the
  56.        archives.

  58.      ■ Added a check to ensure that ARJ archives with built in "-VS" trojans
  59.        cannot be executed.

  61.      ■ Fixed a couple of little bugs with passwords on files.  If you were
  62.        using file area passwords, under certain circumstances AM would not
  63.        ask for a password when it should, and at other times it would ask
  64.        for passwords when it should NOT.  This has been fixed.  (Oops).
  65.        Thanks to Mike Ehlert for so accurately tracking and reporting this
  66.        problem..  People like him make debugging easy...

  68.      ■ Added "-+" to the ARJ command lines.  This will force ARJ to ignore
  69.        any ARJ environment variables that are set, which could cause AM to
  70.        function incorrectly.

  73.        archives incorrectly if the files were stored with a complete file
  74.        path.  I don't know how this was ever missed, but it was.. :)

  83.      More changes!  (Don't worry, nothing major... to upgrade, just copy
  84.      the new AM_60.EXE file over your old one...)

  86.      ■ LARGE BUG (Maybe!)
  87.        In gamma 6 /L local mode support was added, with the possibility of
  88.        allowing full access to all areas if no user number was specified
  89.        with the /U option.   I goofed up big time, and forgot one simple
  90.        line of code, which MAY have been allowing remote callers to have
  91.        full access.  I can't confirm this right now, because I can't check
  92.        the program other than in local mode.  In any case, this is now
  93.        fixed.

  95.        A few people reported that AM was not checking file group security
  96.        levels, and was allowing people to access areas that they should not
  97.        have been able to access.   This is due to the above mentioned bug.
  98.        I think this was only happening when they tested it in local mode,
  99.        but I could be mistaken.   THIS IS NOW FIXED, and has been carefully
  100.        tested.

  102.        REMEMBER: If you use the /L switch to run AM in local mode, it WILL
  103.        give you FULL ACCESS TO ALL FILE AREAS.  To disable this, use the /U
  104.        switch to specify which user number should be read from USERS.BBS.
  105.        If you use the /U switch, this user's security and flag settings will
  106.        be used, and access to only the appropriate areas will be granted.
  107.        Otherwise, /L local mode user's will have FULL access to ALL areas.

  110.      ■ When displaying files within an archive, "More Files..." would appear
  111.        even when there were no more files to be displayed.  This has been
  112.        fixed, and enhanced.  Up and down indicators are now displayed showing
  113.        if there are more files Up or down the list...

  115.      ■ When /F: is specified, but no file is passed on the command line,
  116.        the program will enter Menu Mode, rather than displaying a "file not
  117.        found" error.

  119.      ■ You may now specify multiple file numbers when "flagging" files.

  122.      ■ A couple other odd bugs were found when using /U:x.  These have been
  123.        fixed, and you should no longer have any problems with this option.

  132.      Okay, some very minor modifications here.  File area passwords were
  133.      checked when using AM in 'door' mode (where the user can select file
  134.      areas, list files, etc).  If the user was viewing a file directly, using
  135.      the RA "External Archive Viewer" function (by pressing V when listing
  136.      files in an area) the file area password was NOT checked.  Oops.
  137.      This is now fixed.

  139.      Also, when a password is entered, the characters the user enters will
  140.      no longer be displayed.  Instead, the ■ character is displayed.  This
  141.      will hide the password that the user enters.  I should have done this
  142.      in the first place, but heck, it only took 7 gammas... :)

  144.      I think these are the only things I changed for this release, so I won't 
  145.      even bother announcing it. I'll just replace gamma 6 with gamma 7, and
  146.      let people get the new one when FREQing.  The official release will be 
  147.      ready SOON!

  156.      ■ Well, here we are again.  There seems to be a new gamma every day
  157.        over the last few days.  That's what happens when I have a long
  158.        weekend and its still too cold to play baseball...
  159.  
  160.      BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF CHANGES, DO *NOT* BOTHER TRYING TO
  161.      UPGRADE FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION.   Look up the sections on setting
  162.      up the configuration file, and the command line parameters, and
  163.      install the program from scratch.   I know all these changes are a
  164.      pain.  Sorry!  In the long run I think these changes are making
  165.      installation easier than in previous releases, and that is the
  166.      ultimate goal - to make it as easy as possible to set up the program.

  168.      ■ Fixed a bug that would not allow users to access file areas if you
  169.        weren't using file groups.  This only happened in some situations,
  170.        so you may not have noticed it.

  172.      ■ When reading a file within an archive, you can now read in non-stop
  173.        mode.

  175.      ■ /P: is no longer required IF you are using Local Mode.  This allows
  176.        for a quick and easy AM_60 /L command line for local mode use.

  178.      ■ When performing an Area Change, AM would check if the file area was
  179.        in the current group, or if it was flagged to be in All Groups, but
  180.        AM didn't check the alternate file groups (AltGroup 1, AltGroup 2,
  181.        and AltGroup 3).  These are now checked as well, so the file areas
  182.        will show up in the proper groups.

  184.      ■ The documentation has been COMPLETELY rewritten! Finally!  The docs
  185.        were really a mess, thanks to numerous revisions and sloppy writing.
  186.        They're still probably nothing special, but hopefully they're a little
  187.        more clear and more easily readable than they were before.

  190.        AM-CONF.DAT.

  269.            This version does NOT support FILES.BBS files!
  270.          ■ Enhanced security controls, including full checking of:

  272.                - File area list and download security levels
  273.                - File area list and download flag settings
  274.                - File area list and download NOT flag settings
  275.          ■ Ability for users to view file area listings
  276.              Some similar programs only prompt the user for the filename
  277.              of the archive to view.  Online Archive Master allows users
