What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 (Official Release)?
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[May 11, 1994]
Nothing is new since Gamma 10. This is now the official release of
Online Archive Master version 6.0.
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 10?

[April 30, 1994]
I must be an idiot.. I forgot to clean up the file "number" tagging
before releasing gamma 9, so now I have to release gamma 10 just for
this. Ohwell. Sue me. :)
In previous versions, to enter a file number, you had to enter a # sign,
and then the file number. (example: #12 for file 12). This has been
fixed up, so you can simply enter the number 12 for file 12.. the # sign
is no longer required. Smack me for being too lazy to do this in the
first place.

[April 29, 1994]
■ Added support for ARK archives. ARK archives are in the same format
as ARC archives, but use a different extension.
■ Added "?" help to the menu that appears while a user is viewing the
archives.
■ Added a check to ensure that ARJ archives with built in "-VS" trojans
cannot be executed.
■ Fixed a couple of little bugs with passwords on files. If you were
using file area passwords, under certain circumstances AM would not
ask for a password when it should, and at other times it would ask
for passwords when it should NOT. This has been fixed. (Oops).
Thanks to Mike Ehlert for so accurately tracking and reporting this
problem.. People like him make debugging easy...
■ Added "-+" to the ARJ command lines. This will force ARJ to ignore
any ARJ environment variables that are set, which could cause AM to
function incorrectly.
■ Fixed a bug in the ARJ processing that would display files within ARJ
archives incorrectly if the files were stored with a complete file
path. I don't know how this was ever missed, but it was.. :)

More changes! (Don't worry, nothing major... to upgrade, just copy
the new AM_60.EXE file over your old one...)
■ LARGE BUG (Maybe!)
In gamma 6 /L local mode support was added, with the possibility of
allowing full access to all areas if no user number was specified
with the /U option. I goofed up big time, and forgot one simple
line of code, which MAY have been allowing remote callers to have
full access. I can't confirm this right now, because I can't check
the program other than in local mode. In any case, this is now
fixed.
A few people reported that AM was not checking file group security
levels, and was allowing people to access areas that they should not
have been able to access. This is due to the above mentioned bug.
I think this was only happening when they tested it in local mode,
but I could be mistaken. THIS IS NOW FIXED, and has been carefully
tested.
REMEMBER: If you use the /L switch to run AM in local mode, it WILL
give you FULL ACCESS TO ALL FILE AREAS. To disable this, use the /U
switch to specify which user number should be read from USERS.BBS.
If you use the /U switch, this user's security and flag settings will
be used, and access to only the appropriate areas will be granted.
Otherwise, /L local mode user's will have FULL access to ALL areas.
■ When displaying files within an archive, "More Files..." would appear
even when there were no more files to be displayed. This has been
fixed, and enhanced. Up and down indicators are now displayed showing
if there are more files Up or down the list...
■ When /F: is specified, but no file is passed on the command line,
the program will enter Menu Mode, rather than displaying a "file not
found" error.
■ You may now specify multiple file numbers when "flagging" files.
Separate each file number with a space.
■ A couple other odd bugs were found when using /U:x. These have been
fixed, and you should no longer have any problems with this option.
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 7?
────────────────────────────────────────────────
[April 17, 1994]
Okay, some very minor modifications here. File area passwords were
checked when using AM in 'door' mode (where the user can select file
areas, list files, etc). If the user was viewing a file directly, using
the RA "External Archive Viewer" function (by pressing V when listing
files in an area) the file area password was NOT checked. Oops.
This is now fixed.
Also, when a password is entered, the characters the user enters will
no longer be displayed. Instead, the ■ character is displayed. This
will hide the password that the user enters. I should have done this
in the first place, but heck, it only took 7 gammas... :)
I think these are the only things I changed for this release, so I won't
even bother announcing it. I'll just replace gamma 6 with gamma 7, and
let people get the new one when FREQing. The official release will be
ready SOON!
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 6?
────────────────────────────────────────────────
[April 12, 1994]
■ Well, here we are again. There seems to be a new gamma every day
over the last few days. That's what happens when I have a long
weekend and its still too cold to play baseball...
BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF CHANGES, DO *NOT* BOTHER TRYING TO
UPGRADE FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION. Look up the sections on setting
up the configuration file, and the command line parameters, and
install the program from scratch. I know all these changes are a
pain. Sorry! In the long run I think these changes are making
installation easier than in previous releases, and that is the
ultimate goal - to make it as easy as possible to set up the program.
■ Fixed a bug that would not allow users to access file areas if you
weren't using file groups. This only happened in some situations,
so you may not have noticed it.
■ When reading a file within an archive, you can now read in non-stop
mode.
■ /P: is no longer required IF you are using Local Mode. This allows
for a quick and easy AM_60 /L command line for local mode use.
■ When performing an Area Change, AM would check if the file area was
in the current group, or if it was flagged to be in All Groups, but
AM didn't check the alternate file groups (AltGroup 1, AltGroup 2,
and AltGroup 3). These are now checked as well, so the file areas
will show up in the proper groups.
■ The documentation has been COMPLETELY rewritten! Finally! The docs
were really a mess, thanks to numerous revisions and sloppy writing.
They're still probably nothing special, but hopefully they're a little
more clear and more easily readable than they were before.
■ The default configuration filename is now AM.CFG, instead of
AM-CONF.DAT.
■ More changes to the configuration file! See the section in AM_60.DOC
for details on how to set up the configuration file!
■ New parameter: /U: (see AM_60.DOC for details).
■ Some enhancements were made to the text file reader.
■ NEW! A configuration program (AM_SETUP.EXE) can now be used to create
and modify your AM.CFG configuration file. No more text editing
required! (But you can still use a text editor if you wish.)
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 5?
────────────────────────────────────────────────
[April 3, 1994]
■ You may now run in local mode without having EXITINFO.BBS and
DORINFO1.DEF in the directory. Use the new /L parameter for local
mode. Also see the new settings in the configuration file! Local
mode will read a user from USERS.BBS, rather than requiring the
drop files being present.
■ You may specify /P: without a directory after the colon (:) to indicate
that AM should look for EXITINFO in the CURRENT directory. You must
still use /P: on the command line, but do not specify a directory (leave
it blank).
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 4?
────────────────────────────────────────────────
[April 2, 1994]
■ DesqView support has been added (I know, its about time..)
■ The More? prompts are now removed (erased) when a selection is made.
They used to scroll up the screen.
■ The file viewer has been enhanced.
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0 gamma 3?
────────────────────────────────────────────────
[March 30, 1994]
■ Fixed a bug that caused the program to crash when listing file areas
with certain (illegal) file headers inserted by other programs.
■ Registration codes are no longer used.
■ "Tagging" files is now available when selecting the file to be viewed.
■ The 'credit' screens were removed, to make the program apprear to be
more integrated with RemoteAccess.
■ The user now starts in his/her current file area and group, instead
of group 1, area 1.
■ Multiple archive names are now used for the EXTRACT file. EXTRACT.ZIP
is used for single node systems. If you pass the node on the command
line using /N:node the file will be named AM_xxx.ZIP where xxx is
the node number.
■ File area passwords are now checked. Oops, somehow I missed these
in previous releases. The file area password is only checked if
there is no individual file password.
What's new in Online Archive Master v6.0?
────────────────────────────────────────
Online Archive Master v6.0 offers the following new features:
■ Full support for the RemoteAccess 2.00 file database
This version does NOT support FILES.BBS files!
■ Enhanced security controls, including full checking of:
- File passwords
- File area list and download security levels
- File area list and download flag settings
- File area list and download NOT flag settings
■ Ability for users to view file area listings
Some similar programs only prompt the user for the filename
of the archive to view. Online Archive Master allows users
to change file areas (and groups if groups have been defined)
and view the file listings for these areas.
■ Supports the EXTERNAL ARCHIVE VIEWER option in RACONFIG. This
allows you to replace the built in archive viewer with Online
Archive Master.
■ Supports NESTED ARCHIVES! Up to 10 levels deep!
■ Supports SQZ format archives
What's not new:
