What does JLUTIL do?
With a few words: JLUTIL is a GT Companion (all versions !!!), which
monitors the levels of the users, inspects the LogFile, deletes messages,
changes attributes, validates, extracts and renumbers messages, handles
mailinglists, allows you to search for users, incorporates a MailBox
Control System, which answers your mail, gives other sysops informations
about your system (eg. which files you have ready for download) via
NetMail, involves Utilities to change a variable within a file like GT.CNF
easily, handle Door-Files for other programs, make analyses, clean
LogFiles, change user-records etc.
Where can i get support ? The Support Echo E02/650 is available at...

And what is new ?
┌──────────────────────([R] Copy must be registered)
─┴─
[ ] 1. /DATE parameter: Sunday = 0 to Saturday = 6
[ ] 2. One bug in RM fixed.
[ ] 3. L1=,L2=,L3=,L4=,L5=,LP=,PF= in JL.CNF have been removed.
[ ] 4. Each Program has his own LogFile: JLUTIL.LOG, JLPLOT.LOG,
JLBANK.LOG. The general LogFile JL.LOG has been removed.
[ ] 5. /EX has a new switch: -K Kill message after it has been
extracted.
[ ] 6. The option ST has been removed.
[ ] 7. With the option DM you can specify * to seletc all MsgAreas.
[ ] 8. Each JL-Program has now his own *.CNF file. The general JL.CNF
has been removed.
[R] 9. A new option is available. It is RR and it handles Return
Receipts. Run /RR with or without the z switch to supress
or to get the enhanced control panel and RR handles auto-
matically the .RRs you are sending out and detects, if
there is an incoming Return Receipt. With the parameter
R you get a report, which return receipts are outstanding
and which messages with a .RR have been received and how
long they were on the way. After a report RR kills all
records, which .RR messages have been received. You can
specify an interval after that .RR records will be killed
also, even if the .RR message never reached their target.
RR sends out the report to the user, who wrote the message
with the .RR. You can specify, if RR should handle incoming
Return Receipts and kill them afterwards. RR stores his
informations in the file RCPTRTRN.CTL in each MsgArea.
At the moment a report is written into the file RCPTRTRN.RPT
and no records will be killed. The syntax is /RR MsgArea -P
[ ] 10. If THE JL's want to write a message into an empty area,
they will write the first record SYS CTL from now on.
[ ] 11. Whenever a subject of a message contained a komma [,],
the -P switch failed, which saved the last scanned message.
Fixed. The format of the POS{xx}.@JL files changed. This
will cause, that all options will scan the first the complete
msgareas, but they will continue normally.
[ ] 12. Supports the new GTMDIR.BBS format.
[ ] 13. The Installation program JLINST has been enhanced.
[ ] 14. The option IL handles now the new GT.LOG entries of
external protocolls.
[ ] 15. Just found another bug of the option RM, if you run it
with the z switch. Fixed.
[ ] 16. JLPATH has now two more subdirectories:
├─ WRK
└─ MISC
This can cause problems, if you don't move your files
into the MISC subdirectory. JLINST will do that for you.
Look which files are in this subdirectory and copy your
own over them.
[ ] 17. The option MO awaits now the message files, specified
in LEVELS.@JL in the subdirectory MSG of JLPATH (MP=).
[ ] 18. A bug in IL has been fixed.
[ ] 19. Because several variables in *.CNF have been removed,
some things are no longer changeable. The logfiles are
in the subdirectory LOG of JLPATH.
[ ] 20. Another bug in IL has been fixed.
[ ] 21. The option IP (Inspect Passwords) has been enhanced.
To check the passwords of all users, you have to use
the switch -e. If you specify the new switch -z,
you will get the old control panel. Without it you
will get the enhanced control panel. In the past IP
checked the passwords of deleted users and users with
invalid levels too. Fixed. In the past it detected a
bad password, if GAST or TEST were a part of the
password: eg. BETATESTER. Fixed.
[ ] 22. CH has the new switch -K. Kill userrecords, which can't
be found.
[ ] 23. Message written by MO can handle the two variables
@V01 = old level and @v02 = new level.
[ ] 24. THE JL's are from now on LAN able.
[ ] 25. MO uses the enhanced control panel.
[ ] 26. DM didn't handle the keep messages field properly. fixed.
[ ] 27. Fileaccess. With the introduction of LAN compatibility,
several file-accesses terminated with an ioerror. Many of them
fixed.
[ ] 28. The variables 00= to 12= in *.CNF has been removed.
[ ] 29. The option CM sends the message MSGPATH+'UNKNOW_U.MSG' to
the writing person.
[ ] 30. ANSWER_U.MSG -> ROB-RPT.MSG
[ ] 31. The variable MO= in *.CNF has been removed. The filename
chng_lvl.MSG changed to chngdlvl.msg
[ ] 32. IL has his own JL{IL}.CNF file in \MISC, which was a part
of JL.CNF, but is from now a seperate file.
[ ] 33. Some bugs within MO have been fixed. A new feature has been
added.
If the level of one or more users will be changed, MO will
write all usernames and their old levels into a file in
WRKPATH. You can restore the old levels by running MO again
with the filename as parameter and the switch r.
eg.: JLUTIL /MO MO{005}.SAV -r
The file MO{005}.SAV must be in subdirectory WRK of JLPATH.
From time to time you have to kill the MO{???}.SAV files.
[ ] 34. If you leave a variable in JLUTIL.CNF file empty, JLUTIL
will notice that and will give out a warning. Leaving a
variable empty (except DE) will cause trouble !
[ ] 35. THE JL's have now another procedure to get the current color
at startup.
[ ] 36. The file MONEY01.@JL has a new format.
[ ] 37. The option IL has for his parameter N and the switch N a
new file. It is NO-RPT.@JL in the directory MISC. Here you
can specify these systems, which should get no netmail
report from MCS. Read this new file for informations.
[ ] 38. The option MO has the new switch -O. It generates a user
level report. Try it. You will be surpriced, how many
users on your board have a level, you never thought.
This procedures uses the file LVL-RPT.MSG in the directory
MSGPATH.
[ ] 39. The global option /SKIPCNFCHECK has been renamed to /!006.
[ ] 40. Some helpfiles and the file LEVELS.@JL have been rewritten.
[ ] 41. The option IL has two new switches: -FT
With these two switches you can specify a start and an end
date of the analysis. The date, which follows the switches,
must have a length of eight digits.
-F01011993 and -T01311993.
[ ] 42. The option IL has been enhanced.
[ ] 43. If THE JL's try to open a file and they detect, that
the path is not found, they will create the path.
[ ] 44. The option CF has been enhanced.
[R] 45. The option GC continues processing the commandfile, if
a error occurs executing a line of the commandfile. You have
to add a loop in your batchfile.
[ ] 46. The JL's can handle from now on the new NODELIST.BBS format.
[ ] 47. There is a new file GT??.@JL, which must be in the subdirectory
MISC. If you specify the GT-Version 18 or greater, THE JL's
get the format and the names of the User & Message Files from
this file. If you are using GT 19, GT19.@JL must be in MISC.
If this file is incorrect, THE JL's will fail. Then you should
pick up the correct GT??.@JL file. If a new version of GT will
be released simply setup the GT??.@JL file and THE JL's are
compatible with this new version.
[ ] 48. MO saves now the usernames and their old levels in the
JLPATH subdirectory LOG. The filename pattern is
MO{???}.SAV
[ ] 49. THE JL's handle from now on their own temporal working-
directory. If different JL's are running e.g. in a multitasking
environment at the same time, they are using different working
directories.
