  8.  │ There are complete ZIPs and incomplete, upgrade ZIPs. To use an     │
  9.  │ upgrade ZIP, you need the latest complete ZIP too. THE JL's with    │
  10.  │ a version, which can be devided through 10 like 4.00, 4.10, 4.20..  │
  11.  │ 4.90, 5.00 are packaged as complete ZIPs. All other versions will   │
  12.  │ be zipped as an upgrade ZIP. If you have downloaded v4.37U, you     │
  13.  │ need v4.30 to have all files, which are necessary.                  │

  56.   JLUTIL is very powerful and can change the levels of many Users
  57.   in a few seconds by using the /MO option. JLUTIL is not interruptable
  58.   and if you installed JLUTIL not properly, your Files may be changed
  59.   in a way you haven't intended and you will need many hours to reinstall
  60.   your BBS.

  62.   Perhaps you start with the following steps:
  63.  
  64.    1)  Enter: SET JLPATH=_________ <- your JL-Directory
  65.  
  66.          As you can see THE JL's must be in a directory, which is
  67.          specified with the environment variable JLPATH=. If the
  68.          homedirectory of THE JL's is C:\JL, the you must enter
  69.          SET JLPATH=C:\JL.
  70.  
  71.    2)  Put this line also into your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  72.    3)  Enter: SET GTPATH=_________ <- your GT-Directory (should be already)
  73.    4)  Put this line also into your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  74.    5)  READ GENERAL.HLP
  75.  
  76.          This file includes a list of THE JL's ErrorCodes. If eg. THE JL's
  77.          say: Can't open [...]   (ErrorCode 23), then please look up, what
  78.          this error could mean and how you can solve the problem. Normally
  79.          you should be able to ship around all difficulties, but sometimes
  80.          it could be useful to ask somebody else. Then feel free to ask
  81.          Ed Bragg, Terry Dansey or Gene Newcomb or join the support echo.

  83.    6)  Install JL.CNF.

  85.          JL.CNF is one of the most important files of THE JL's. Take
  86.          some time to understand each variable within JL.CNF. Be sure
  87.          that you have setup the LP=, HP= and MP= variables corretly
  88.          and that the logfiles are in the directory LP= and the helpfiles
  89.          in the directory HP= and the messagefiles in the directory MP=.

  91.    7)  READ *.DOC.
  92.  
  93.          JLUTIL.DOC gives you an overview about the features of THE JL's.

  153.   JLPLOT needs your actual JLCALL1.LOG. I have included an old one
  154.   from myself, but you should make your own by killing the existing
  155.   JLCALL1.LOG and running JLUTIL /DC -L. Please check this file and
  156.   update the other JLCALL?.LOG Files by answering the question at
  157.   startup with 'B' for both. JLPLOT terminates immediatly, if it can't
  158.   find these files.
