  5. Address all requests to 'GEcho', 'AreaMgr' or 'AreaFix' (without quotes).
  6. Your AreaMgr password goes on the subject line.

  8. In the body of the message to AreaMgr:

  10. [+]<areaname>         Connect an area (The '+' is optional)
  11. -<areaname>           Disconnect an area (The '-' is REQUIRED!)
  12. %HELP                 Request this message
  13. %LIST                 Request a list of areas available to you
  14. %QUERY                Request a list of areas to which you are connected
  15. %UNLINKED             Request a list of areas to which you are not connected
  16. %COMPRESSION <type>   Change the compression type (ARC/ARJ/LZH/PAK/SQZ/ZIP/ZOO)
  17. %PASSWORD <password>  Change your AreaMgr password
  18. %RESCAN               Request a rescan of new added areas
  19. %ACTIVE               Reconnect all temporary disconnected areas
  20. %PASSIVE              Temporary disconnect all connected areas
  21. %FROM <address>       Remote maintenance, must be the first command  {+}
  22. %+ALL                 Connect all available areas
  23. %-ALL                 Disconnect all areas
  24. [---]                 Everything below the tear line is ignored

  26. You can also use the -H, -L, -Q, -R and -U switches on the subject line
  27. which are:

  29. -H : Help
  30. -L : Request a list of areas available to you
  31. -Q : Request a list of areas to which you are connected
  32. -R : Request a rescan of new added areas
  33. -U : Request a list of areas to which you are not connected to
  34.  
  35. Here is an example of how to use AreaMgr (Areafix) :

  46. This is a comment that is ignored by Areafix.

  50. In the example above, the From field is your name and address.  The To field
  51. is the name of the Areafix program and the address of the BBS.  The Re field
  52. is the subject line on which your Areafix password you selected is placed.
  53. You may also place the 5 switches, -H -L -Q -R -U, on the subject field
  54. after the password instead of using the % commands in the message.  The
  55. body (text) of the message is the commands to Areafix.  In this example,
  56. tem_sys is added to your list of active areas.  The command "-tem_os"
  57. deactivates the conference tem_os.  The '-' is used to deactivate areas.
  58. The --- is called the tear line.  Areafix reads in ALL text BEFORE this tear
  59. line.  You must make sure that ONLY valid Areafix commands are placed in the
  60. text before the tear line.  Areafix ignores all text AFTER the tear line, so
  61. you may place notes or whatever after and ONLY after the tear line.

  63. An example using the subject field command switches:

  74. In this example, there are switches on the Re: field.  These are used to
  75. instruct Areafix to send you a message depending on what option you used.
  76. In this example, there were two options, -L and -Q.  These instruct Areafix
  77. to write a message to you listing ALL available message area to you.  The
  78. -Q instructs Areafix to write a message to you listing what conferences you
  79. have currently active.  Also, notice there is nothing in the message except
  80. ---, which is the tear line.  Even though there was no test, you MUST still
  81. put the tear line to tell Areafix that you are done.  If you do not put the
  82. tear line, Areafix will treat the message as a blank message and ignore it or
  83. even possibly delete it.
