GIFRES is shareware and is being released in a shareware fashion. Shareware is
a great concept. It allows you to try before you buy. Then you can decide if
this software fills your needs or not. The registration fee for GIFRES is
$5US. GIFRES is not crippled in any way. It is a fully working version. The
registration fee gives you free updates (if there are any) and a printed manual.
For a registration of $10US, you will also get the source code. Registration
outside the US is $10US. This software is the intellectual property of Adam
Zuckerman. You are given license to use the software for 30 days. If you do
not to register GIFRES, you MUST discontinue its use. Please support the
shareware concept and register your copy of GIFRES.
Now that the legal stuff is out of the way, we should begin our discussion of
GIFRES. GIFRES is a fairly simple little program written in QuickBasic 4.5.
It will check all of the files listed in your FILES.LST for the GIF resolution
and then put that resolution into your listing. If this causes your description
to go beyond 79 characters, then GIFRES will wrap the rest of the description to
the next line (or more if needed).
To invoke GIFRES, type:
GIFRES filename [gifpath] [/s][/t]
filename is the full path filename for your GIF directory FILES.LST.
gifpath is the full path for your GIF subdirectory or null for the current
directory.
/s is the Spitfire BBS listing switch.
/t is the tagline switch.
GIFRES checks the FILES.LST file to see if GIFRES has been used before. If the
GIF resolution is in the FILES.LST, then GIFRES does not update your FILES.LST.
GIFRES also verifies that the GIF file is truly a GIF. Otherwise it skips that
entry of FILES.LST.
GIFRES creates a copy of your original FILES.LST as filename.LBK. The .LBK
file is overwritten every time you use GIFRES.
GIFRES was specifically designed for use with the TriBBS BBS, but can also be
used with Spitfire. If you would like a version of GIFRES that will work with
your BBS, send me the documentation from your BBS manual that describes the
file structure and $5US. I will send you a fully working version of GIFRES for
your BBS.
Please fill out the enclosed registration form and mail it to:

Please make all checks payable to Adam Zuckerman.
