Hello, I am the town historian and general nice guy. I will give you as
much information as I know. Of course some of the shadier areas I have
little or no knowledge of. But anyway I should be able to give you a
little insight as to what the Field of Honor is about.
Field of Honor takes place in a small town in the old world. Survival of
fittest is the rule of the land. People are always trying to better their
town standings so watch your back. It helps to have some decent weapons
and armour when defending yourself or trying to better yourself.
In the center of the town is a hallowed place called the Field of Honor.
You can challenge people here, to the death. If you happen to win the
challenge you take all your opponents money. Even their life savings
that is in the bank. There is also a small man down by the field that
takes bets on the challenges. I always thought that to be crude, but to
each his own, the old saying goes. If the challenge is failed to be
accepted, I have seen the OverLord do some awful things to those
people that are chickens. Well lets leave it at that. You will just have
stop by and see the place for yourself.
The OverLord's Keep is the place where the Overlord resides. Here you is
where you can offer the OverLord bribes to have mercy on you. This may be
a good idea. If the OverLord wants he can do some nasty things to you. If
you think you are strong enough you may be able to defeat the OverLord and
take over as OverLord. You better make sure you can or the OverLord may
never have mercy on you. From the highest class I have heard stories of a
wonderful but very dangerous hunting area through the keep.
The town also has a Weapons shop and Armours shop. In these two shops
the shop keeper will show you a list of the wares for sale. The list is
highlighted as to what you can afford, and what you currently own. Make
sure to keep your coins in the bank. If you are defeated all your coins
are taking by attacker. And you will need plenty of money to purchase
good weapons and armour. The shop keepers are willing to show you some
of their prized wares if the price is right. There is even suppose to
be a back room of some sort that house some rare and unique wares, but
I have never seen it.
The town Bank is a safe place to keep your money. No interest is payed
but if you are defeated in battle it is still safe. There have been a
few people try to rob the bank. I have not seen them for a long time.
The town even has a Post office where you can send mail to other
residents. This is also where the OverLord's most wanted poster is hung
from time to time. I would check this often. There can be huge rewards
for finding and defeating the most wanted.
I would highly recommend the GrayBar Inn after a long days hunting. The
Inn is no five star hotel but it serves as a place to be safe for the
night. Well, no place is really safe, the keeper reported seeing some
people trying to pick the locks, but he chased them away. This is also
where I can be found.
The Tavern is a decent place. They serve good food and some strong ale.
The Ale has been known to cause extra fights among residents. And the food
is rumored to give extra energy when you are feeling a bit to tired to hunt.
You can also view a list of town residents here as well as seeing the rank
of town class titles.
The church is a solemn place. The priests here will bless your weapons and
armour for a small offering. They are also willing to bless you to make you
a little more lucky.
The School is where you go for training. If you are able to defeat the
weapons masters there your town class and abilities will be increased.
Through the gate is some hunting areas. Hunting in the East is fairly simple
and is the place you should start. The other areas require special items
to help you survive. If you can defeat the area enemies you gain experience
and coins. Of course this is what you need to do to be able to purchase new
weapons and armour to become more powerful. You can also find artifacts
while hunting. Although these do not have any monetary value, they are
quite valuable and prized by certain people. I've also heard stories about
some secret back door out of town into another hunting area. If you want
you can also camp in the outlying areas. Or even build yourself a cabin.
The Outfitter is a good place to find special items. Here is where you can
find Parkas, Canteens, Tents, Cabins, Lock picks, and a few other items.
Once you have gain enough experience and skill you may want to give a few
of these items a try. The Compass is of special note here. It is expensive,
yes, but is very useful in finding people.
I hope this information will be of use to you. You can always come back to
review this if need be. I may be the historian but I am no authority. The
best way to find your way around is to try new and exciting things.
Good luck and I will see you later...
