MORE MEMORY REQUIRED
If you are setting up and want ESC to compile the nodelist at the
conclusion of the setup, give it plenty of room 450k would be nice.
All the data and the process by which the compiler is called isn't
conservative. However, much less memory is needed if the nodelist
isn't to be compiled from the setup.
THE ESC DIRECTORY (FIRST TIME SETUP)
Should be free of any configuration or control files from other
software packages. Especially remove the GOLDED.CFG, MSGED.CFG,
BINKLEY.CFG, QNODE.CFG, XLAXNODE.CTL, BINKLEY.LNG etc. etc. if
they are present on a NEW installation. Esc will read these and
try to parse them as if they were originally created by ESC. This
doesn't work well because many of the examples within the original
control files have default drive paths which are not likely
correct for your system. They will be drawn into the control files
which ESC produces. Let ESC create its own control files!
Once again: PLEASE REMOVE ANY ORIGINAL EXAMPLE CONTROL FILES from
the directory you are installing ESC into.
IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM AN EARLIER VERSION.
PLEASE don't upgrade ESC by calling it from the current MAIL.BAT.
In otherwords, place the files from the new ESC???.LZH in your
mailer directory and then type ESC at the dos prompt. Otherwise,
the batch file will become confused when you exit ESC and you'll
experience bizarre results.
AUTOMATIC REGISTRATION MESSAGE
ESC creates an automatic routed netmail message upon installation.
Please allow it to be packed and sent out of your system. See the
manual for more information.
IF YOU ARE SETTING UP AS A <HOST> NODE MAILER SYSTEM
If you're setting up as a host, you may wish to remove the semicolon
which precedes the line in the binkley.cfg which reads like this.
;AfterMail gotmail
This will allow immediate processing of mail which arrives, without
intervention.

Your recommendations make a difference. The ESC project represents
ideas from many people. "Imagination is more important than knowledge".
Send your suggestions. Who knows, you may be able to have it your way.
If nothing else, just drop a note to say hello.
