Your reigning MELEE Moderator is: Kevin L. Higgins, author and generally good
guy.
[MELEE Conference Guidelines]:
1. This echo is open to everyone, to include SysOps and plain-vanilla, non-
BBS-running door players. Even non-MELEE players are encouraged to attend
(encouragement based on conversational abilities, of course).
This echo may only be distributed to non-Fidonet, non-DoorNet systems
(systems which do not use the 1-6: or 75: zone in their seen-by) upon the
approval of the moderator. Currently, the ONLY system authorized to act
as a gate between FidoNet and V-Net is Rick Johnston.
Systems receiving this echo in V-Net may NOT pass the echo on to ANYONE
outside of V-Net without the express permission of the moderator--the
continuing problem with dupes in this echo seems to arise almost exclus-
ively from systems who receive the echo in one net, then send it on to
a system in another net. This is forbidden. If your echomail processor
isn't talented enough to work without breaking this taboo, you are
respectfully invited to drop this conferenece. This brings us to the next
point:
NO ONE MAY RECEIVE THIS ECHO IN MORE THAN ONE NET except for the Moderator
and those individuals who have permission to gate this echo. Currently
those individuals are limited to Rick Johnston and Steve Lin.
NO ONE MAY GATE THIS ECHO INTO ANOTHER NET without the express permission
of the Moderator.
2. This echo's purpose is to promote the flow of information about MELEE and
other existant or future Banzai Software doors. Any questions relating to
those topics is appropriate here. Conversation--as long as it is at least
loosely based on Banzai Software doors--or creative writing kept loosely
to the framework of the game's action or character development is also
encouraged.
3. Do not be excessively annoying to sysops and/or users of participating
systems. Courtesy and respect are returned in kind. If a complaint is
filed against an individual or a system, or if the Moderator takes offense
to a system's or individual's behavior, then he will notify the offending
party via routed netmail, direct netmail, or via the echo (rarely, so as
to keep off-topic traffic to a minimum). Do not take it upon yourself to
fulfill moderator duties simply because his actions are transparent to
you. Don't take anything too seriously, eh?
4. The duty of the Moderator, first and formost, is to ensure the quality of
this echo remains high (and to suck every possible registration out of the
market). The less time spent in settling disputes, the better. If you
disagree with another's opinions you are encouraged to announce your
disagreement in netmail (you know what they say about people and their
opinions!). I reserve the right to delegate my authority to others in the
event that I cannot access this echo for whatever reason; in that case,
my representative possesses all my my powers and responsibilities as the
Moderator.
