Rules of conduct in the International Chess Echo. CHESS.RUL, 12-Aug-92
Moderator: Tim Eichman (1:2607/107)
Co-Moderator and
Tournament Director: Shane Brown (1:306/24)
Assitant TD: Richard Chapman (1:306/24)
The International Chess Echo is a forum in which users discuss
current chess topics (championships, software, etc); debate,
teach and learn tactics; and are encouraged to participate in
individual and/or tournament correspondence games of chess. This
echo is for all who enjoy any form of chess (Chinese Chess, etc);
from the First Time Player, to the Grandmaster!
1. No flames, profanity, or violations of FidoNet rules.
2. Stay "On-Topic"; move off-topics to other Echos or NetMail.
3. Handles are permitted, but real names must be provided upon request.
4. Public discussions must be in English. Kibitzing with opponent's
may be in any language, but the message must be to a specific
person and be related to a game between the parties involved.
5. All messages must be in standard ASCII (no graphics characters, etc).
6. Notify the MOD's via NetMail if you feel a user has broken the rules.
7. Users/Nodes violating the Echo Rules will be given three notices.
1st - Public via The Echo;
2nd - Private via NetMail, carbon-copy (cc) to the SysOp;
3rd - Private via NetMail, cc to SysOp and to the NEC/REC/ZEC
Failure to comply after three requests may result in user and/or
node banishment from The Echo.
8. If the MOD "disappears" for more than one month, the Co-Moderator
(CM) will take over, notifying the Z1EC, until either, (a) the MOD
returns after giving a valid reason for absence to the CM and the
Z1EC, or, (b) the MOD does not return after a second month.
If the MOD "disappears" for more than two months, or does not have
a valid reason for absence, the CM shall; (a) become the MOD, (b)
appoint a new MOD, or, (c) oversee an election, where users
nominate and vote on candidates over a one month period. The Z1EC
must be notified. The former MOD shall not have claim to the
position.
If both the MOD and CM "disappear" for more than two months, the
Z1EC shall either carry out this rule, or appoint someone to do so.
9. CM and Tournament Director (TD) positions are appointed by the MOD.
Anyone is eligible. If a CM or TD "disappears" for more than one
month, the MOD may appoint a new CM or TD.
10. Gating of the Echo to new zones and/or networks must be
pre-approved by the MOD and must provide proof that Inter-Network
standards will not be violated.
11. These are the current rules and may be amended at anytime. Future
MOD's are not bound to these rules.
12. All rules are subject to MOD review and changed at anytime.
