  2.     RULES FOR PARTICIPATING SYSOPS/USERS IN THE KRISHNA ECHO

  6.      The KRISHNA echo was started by me in '87 to allow for
  7. friendly and informative discussions on topics relating to the
  8. Krishna consciousness movement.  The echo was or is not in any
  9. way a project of the world-wide International Society for Krishna
  10. Consciousness (ISKCON), but is a project of the Krishna Yoga
  11. Foundation BBS (formerly called "The Hare Krishna BBS").
  12.      Some general guidelines that I have developed over the years
  13. can be summarized as:
  14.                            * DON'TS *
  15.  
  16.      1)  First and foremost, no heated debate, name-calling, or
  17. flame-ons.  The echo is meant to encourage friendly and
  18. informative discussion only.  Naturally, some disagreement will
  19. occur, but if someone can't handle the discussion in an agreeable
  20. manner, it's best that s/he not participate.
  21.      2)  The echo is semi-public (or semi-private, however you
  22. want to call it).  It is not meant for those who have a bone to
  23. pick with Krishnas, evangelist-types who want to either condemn
  24. or to convert anyone to Christ or whichever God, or followers of
  25. other Indian gurus who are inimical to Gaudiya-vaishnavism.  The
  26. echo is meant solely for the purpose of networking those people
  27. who have a genuine interest in the Krishna consciousness movement
  28. and philosophy.  It is *not* meant as a place to lodge
  29. complaints, or a place for critics of the Krishna movement.  If a
  30. person finds an overwhelming urge to toss in a few unsolicited
  31. Biblical quotes, or post series of messages about the glories of
  32. the Maharisi, Sai Baba, Rajneesh, Krishnamurti, Yogananda, etc.,
  33. this echo is definitely *not* for him/her.

  35.                             * DO'S *
  36.  
  37.      1)  Any sysop should arrange to hook up directly with my BBS
  38. for a feed to KRISHNA.  As sysop of the Krishna Yoga Foundation
  39. BBS, I will gladly hook any sysop to KRISHNA as well as poll that
  40. BBS on my dime.  Sysops, however, are encouraged at least to poll
  41. once a week for KRISHNA, but if that's not financially possible,
  42. then I can agree to send KRISHNA to the sysop on my dime.  This
  43. way, there is no loss to anyone, and any sysop can get KRISHNA
  44. delivered for his BBS and users, even on a trial basis.  Another
  45. advantage to this type of arrangement is that there are also 2
  46. related echos, namely, VEGETARIAN and REINCARNATION that also
  47. originate here, are not on the Fidonet Backbone, and can be also
  48. sent along with KRISHNA to provide any sysop with these three
  49. Vedic echos.

  51.      2)  Do participate, even if just to say "Hello", and do not
  52. be afraid to ask questions or give some comments and
  53. observations, or raise some issues.
