Celerity Utility Package
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Celerity Utility Package contains 28 utilities designed to augment the
Celerity BBS package or make system management easier and more powerful. It
represents many hours of work on the part of the authors of the utilities, and
they deserve recognition for their efforts. If you have any utilities you
wish to contribute to other users, or have ideas for new utilities, contact
ZigZag on Terrapin Station. He is heading a group of programmers working on
utilities, and welcomes sysop input.
Note that in future versions, this utility package may be packaged seperately
due to its sheer size.
The utilities found in this package contain the work of Leviathan, Sicko,
Johan, The Necromancer, Wild Gunman, ZigZag, Fatal Error, Mobius, and The
Byter.
ANSI.EXE
~~~~~~~~
Syntax: ANSI mainm.ans
ANSI simply displays an ANSI screen on your local console without going
through DOS. It is quicker than DOS' "type" command, and provides a wonderful
excuse for refusing to load a slow dos-based ANSI driver. On the rare
occasion you need to view an ANSI in DOS, you can use ANSI.EXE and end up
saving considerable time (over the years) wasted by slow DOS screen output due
to an ANSI device driver.
CALLERS.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~
Suntax: CALLERS
Outputs a list of caller activity to the screen or to a text file. Output to a
file and use LIST or your favorite editor to browse and search etc. the list
of calls.
Run with no parameters. CALLERS will prompt for necessary input.
MEGS.EXE
~~~~~~~~
Syntax: MEGS
Megs catalogues your available hard drive partitions and displays the space
free, space used, and total space. It is handy for getting a quick glimpse of
how your storage is and whether you need to clean up some space somewhere.
SNAKE.EXE
~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: SNAKE
Snake is an obnoxious "screen saver" TSR. You can't get rid of it once you
start it, and it will continually "eat" up your screen.
TIMECNF.EXE
~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: TIMECNF /?
Run Timecnf with the /? parameter for a help and instruction screen.
FILEADD.EXE
~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: Fileadd c:\celerity\data\new.dir
FileAdd will bulk-add files (by wildcard) to a Celerity-compatible data file.
This is useful, for example, if you want to add a few hundred text files, old
games, GIFs, etc. to a file area but don't want to take the time to enter
them manually. They will not be described, have a program name, disk numbers,
or anything. Their cost will be free (use the point reassign command from
within Celerity to adjust them correctly). They will have no uploader and
will not be private.
Give Fileadd the destination file for a Celerity-compatible file listing data
file. Fileadd will prompt you for the path and wildcards to use when adding
files.
FILETXT.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: FILETXT [dirfile]
This util creates a simple ASCII text listing of all files in a given Celerity
.DIR file. I wrote it so I could maintain an offline list with descriptions
and miscellaneous info that Celerity tracks without having to enter it
manually into CatDisk or something like that.
FILEZIP.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: FILEZIP [dirfile] [extension] Path_To_Pkzip
This utility will take each file listed in a given .DIR file and encapsulate
it in its own ZIP file. FILEZIP is useful for ZIP'ing up all the uncompressed
text files in a Celerity file directory. It simply takes a file with the
given EXTension, ZIPs it, updates the Celerity file entry to the new name and
repeats until all files with that extension are processed.
Run with no parameters for usage summary.
Wild cards are not supported.
The program currently supports PKZIP and any programs that are command switch
compatible. The optional parameter is for any additional PKZIP switches you'd
like to use, ie., -k to keep old file dates.
Full path names must be used. If someone can tell me how to EXEC using the
DOS path I'll be more than happy to remove this hindrance.
NUVADD.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: NUVADD [UserHandle] [UserNum]
A really crude utility for adding users to the NUV database. This is handy
whenever a new user doesn't complete the new user process correctly and ends
up not being in the NUV database, ie., they hang up too soon.
You need to know the User Handle and Number to add them to NUV.
I'm not familiar with the details of how Celerity handles it's ansi/color
codes consequently there are funny characters appearing in the output. With
some help I'll try and correct this in a future version.
PACKMAIL.EXE
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: PACKMAIL
Packmail will take the new 1.39-format mail files and "weed out" old deleted
mail. Once the mail index file gets over 70 to 100k, performance will be
adversely affected, and Packmail should be run from time to time.
Switch to your DATA directory before running Packmail.
PWCLEAN.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: PWCLEAN
This program simply removes download passwords from all files in the given
Celerity .DIR file. A file pick list will pop up, courtesy of TTT.
RESET.EXE
~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: RESET
Allows you to change various attributes for all of your userbase. Colors can
be reset (to system defaults set in the config), transfer statistics cleared,
PCR/UDR ratios changed, conference access given or taken, etc.
LISTUSER.EXE
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: LISTUSER
This utility will print your userlist - including handles, real names, phone
numbers, access level, and file points - to a text file or to the printer. It
is quite helpful for keeping a hardcopy of your user information, particularly
as a backup or if you decide to have everyone log on new.
USERLIST.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: LISTUSER
Outputs a list of user information to the screen or to a text file. Output to
a file and use LIST or your favorite editor to browse and search etc. the list
of user information.
XFERLIST.EXE by Johan of UnKnown Origin
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: XFERLIST
Outputs a list of U/L or D/L activity to the screen or to a text file. Useful
if you have a lot of xfer activity and need to search through it for info.
Output to a file and use LIST or your favorite editor to browse and search
etc.
ADD2NUV.ZIP by Rosta Man of Nirvana
~~~~~~~~~~~
ADD2NUV goes through the USERS file and checks to make sure all new
users made it into the NUV file USERVOTE.DAT - If it finds any that
didn't, it adds em. SORTA like the one Johan from Unknown Origin wrote,
only alot more versitle. It also allows you to re-add users back into
the NUV list if for some reason you want to do that. Like if people are
complaining that 'so and so loser' should get the boot. Welp...here's
democracy at work. It can run each night in the EVENT.BAT file to keep
the list up to date. It could run after every call in the MAIN.BAT file
(not really necessary) and it can run from the command line. It also
allows the Sysop to reset a users confaccess and SecLvls automatically!
Just put thier name in my setup file and BANG...reduced to new user
status!
ANSSORT2.ZIP by Leviathan of The Infernal Diatribe
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Version 2.0 of ANSI cleaner to strip [255's. Much improved.

from FrontDoor. Very handy for sysops who run FrontDoor as a full-time
front end.
KMAIL13.ZIP by Cabo of Land's End BBS
~~~~~~~~~~~
This utility will delete old mail which users have read but haven't bothered
to delete. Version 1.3.
protocol files for Zmodem and YmodemG transfers.
OLEDIT10.ZIP by ZigZag of The Projects
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Contains a Oneliner editor and manager.
HSL.ZIP
~~~~~~~
This contains an instructional file and a utility. The utility is needed to
use HS/Link with Celerity v1.38, and was developed by Fatal Error. Note that
you will need to obtain the HS/Link files (HSLK10B9.ZIP, HS-INST.ZIP) to
complete the protocol.
HIDEUSRS.ZIP by Rosta Man of Nirvana
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allows the sysop to 'hide' up to 1000 different user names from the
callers log. Sorta like SYSFLT11 only one step beyond. Handy for the
'unseen' ones who call my system. Do what you may with it. Can run
nightly or after every caller.
INTRFACE.ZIP by Black Ninja of Insane Asylum
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a self-contained utility which combines an e-mail reader and a
Oneliner editor.
CONV141.ZIP
~~~~~~~~~~~

SMTBAT11.ZIP by Rosta Man of Nirvana
~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little program that helps out bigtime with the EVENT.BAT file
processing. It lets you run certain progs on certain days from the
EVENT.BAT file by checking what day of the week it is and returning the
day number in the DOS ERRORLEVEL for the batch file to check. Version 1.1.
SYSFLT11.ZIP by ZigZag of The Projects
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Contains a utility to remove selected names from file upload/download logs.
TOOLKIT.ZIP
~~~~~~~~~~~
Contains programming information and record types for version 1.41
ZIPCLEAN.ZIP
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syntax: ZIPCLEAN [d:\path] [/?] [/S]
[d:\path] specifies the path to search. Include drive spec.
[/?] shows this help display
[/S] recurses all subdirectories
[/U] use unregistered copy of PKZIP (no -AV manipulation)
[/C] disable inclusion of COMMENT.ASC as ZIP comment
ZipClean strips unwanted files from zips, replaces the -AV tag, and changes
the ZIP comment on your ZIP files. It will preserve the date/time the file
was uploaded, and also recursively process any subdirectories. Please read
the ZIPCLEAN.DOC file in ZIPCLEAN.ZIP.
