General Information
When the bbs is sending you characters, the following keys perform special
functions:
^S Pauses output; use ^Q to restart.
<space> Cancel output. For example, pressing space now will stop
displaying this help.
X More powerful cancel key. This key cancels long-range
functions, in particular, the newscan (scan for new items)
commands.
When you are typing commands to the bbs, the following keys perform special
functions:
^X/Esc Erase line
^W Erase last word
^R Repeat previous command
, Chaining. Commands separated by commas are "chained" together.
this means that the following construction:
[Main Menu][?/Help]: h,4
would get help on the fourth topic.
Note that from every command menu, you may enter "?" to get a list of choices.
From most menus, you may also enter "H" for more help.

The Main Menu Commands
Key Function Description
A About this BBS Displays information about this bulletin board.
M Message Sections Enters the messages section, where you may read
public messages and post those of your own.
C Chat with sysop Calls the sysop (system operator) to chat.
D Databases Enters the database section, where you may list other
people's entries and add those of your own.
E Electronic mail Enters the electronic mail section, where you may
send private messages to other users and read those
addressed to you.
F Feedback Sends private mail to the sysop
G Goodbye Terminates this call
H Help Enters the help section. This command is available
from several menus other than the main menu.
I Info-forms Lets you fill out an info-form. This form is
prepared by the sysop.
S System statistics Displays system statistics: number of callers, days
this bulletin board has been up, etc.
K Configuration Enters the configuration section, where you may set
such options as your colors, and configure your
newscan. See the bulletin section for more
information about the newscan.
L List users Displays a list of the users of this system and their
security levels
B BBS List Function A BBS List function where you may add and view info
about other Bulletin Boards.
N News Redisplays the sysop news you saw when you logged on
O Log off Functionally the same as /o, goodbye; it termiantes
the connection.
P Open Doors Enters the door section, where you may use other
programs through doors which the sysop has set up.
T File Transfer Enters the file transfer section, where you may
upload (send) files to this system, and download
(receive) files sent by other users.
V Voting booths Enters the voting section, where you may vote on
topics set up by the sysop.
W Who's called Displays a list of the last twenty callers.
Y Your status Displays your status, including your level, how much
time you've spent on the system, how much time is
left, etc.
+ Password change Allows you to change your password.
! Level raise Applies for a level raise. You will be shown some
text, created specially for your level. Then you
will be allowed to enter a message to the sysop. The
sysop may raise your level depending on the content
of your message.
& Advertisements The sysop may create advertisements; if there are
any, this command will display them.
$ Donation info If you are interested in donating to this system, use
this command for more information.

The Celerity Message Editor
When you want to enter a message, whether it is personal mail, feedback, or a
message, you use the message editor. You will see:
Enter text, 100 lines at most *Note If you have selected ANSI COLOR system,
Enter /? for help on / commands *A Full-Screen Wordstar-like Editor will be
*used,CTRL-K enters the menu instead of "/"

Now you may type your message. Words too long to fit on the current line will
wrap automatically. When you are done with your message, enter /S. Other /
commands are:
/S Save message Writes your message to disk.
/A Abort message Aborts your message; it will not be saved.
/E Enter edit mode Goes into edit mode. See below for information
about edit mode.
/C Continue Continues adding to your message; each new line
will be appended onto the end.
/F Fix line Lets you change a line.
/L List message Displays your message, with optional line
numbers.
/N New (clear) Erases your message without exiting the editor.
After using "N", you can start your message
over.
/D Delete line(s) Deletes lines from your message.
/I Insert After you enter the line number to insert
before, all text you enter will be inserted at
that point in your message.
/B Backup (fix) Lets you replace the previous line.
/T Change title Changes the title of your message.
/R Search and replace You enter what to search for and what to replace
it with. If a changed line extends beyond 80
columns, it will be truncated.
/M<text> Center text Centers the given text on the current line.
When you are in edit mode, you will see this prompt:
Edit command [?=help]:
You may then enter the above commands without the "/".
Another feature of the editor is the ease of correcting a mistake at the end
of the previous line. Suppose you have entered:
I'm interested in buying a sailboar.
Does_
Now backspace:
I'm interested in buying a sailboar.
_
And press backspace again:
--Back--
I'm interested in buying a sailboar._
and then you can easily correct the mistake.
