Basic Reqirements:
- DOS 3.x and up
- 200k memory or maybe less, depending on your CPU, etc. You should have
enough if you run a BBS anyway, right?
- HDD with about 750k for me, maybe more depending on the # of users
- sometimes more stack memory than the default (9 256k blocks). (See
STACK MEMORY below)
- What is Blood and Silver?
B & S, as we'll call it, is a game derived from some of the more popular
NES, SNES, Computer, and even Atari games, which surrounds around the
VERY basic ideas of Dungeons and Dragons. It is very graphical and easy
to follow and anyone who loves adventures will LOVE this game as well.
To really get instructions, see "INSTRUCT.DOC" in the screens menu after
installation.
INSTALLATION ---------------------------------------B&Sv200a-------------->
By typing "install" at the directory which contains the B&S files, you are
prompted for all the necessary information to install B&S. It will
automatically make the batch and config files needed and will tell you the
name of .BAT file used to start it. Manual installation is not reccomended
and is not described. The .BAT file is located in your BBS directory.
If editing of this Batch file is required, do so as needed. Some people may
find problems with fossil initialization, as fossils are never perfect. (It
would NEVER be MY software <g>) so if you find a problem with fossil drivers,
remove the /FD switch from the batch file command line and it will
automatically use internal routines.
This release of Blood & Silver takes advantage of complex error handling
routines as to prevent system crashes... a dreaded event by ALL sysops.
Therefore, if you hear from users that there are errors, please watch someone
play to see where the error is trapped (you're stupid if you don't see the
HUGE error message) and let the author(s) know at the following addresses.
Release 2.0 is NOT beta and therefore was previously tested before release.
Most bugs are pesticided. :)
Drop Files Supported: PCBOARD.SYS, USERS.SYS, DOOR.SYS (52 Line Version),
DORINFOx.DEF, SFDOORS.DAT, USERINFO.DAT, GTUSER.BBS,
TRIBBS.SYS
>Stack Memory:
> Some BBSes have run into a problem regarding STACK MEMORY. If you get this
> error on your system, there is a simple solution: put the following line in
> your CONFIG.SYS file:
>
> STACKS=30,256
>
> It sets a very high stack tolerance, even though the program may not need
> ALL of that, you'll be safe and it has no effect on computer performance,
> etc. Keep in mind that if you are running a multinode networked system, the
> stack settings often must be changed on the host machine AND the server.
> This was the case on AT LEAST one of our beta testing sites.

party programmers!!
NOTES ------------------------------------------------B&Sv200a-------------->
Thanks to Leo Pereira at the Antigone BBS (902-625-0157) for helping us BETA
test this x-bug-filled program. As well, thanks to Truman Philips who notified
us of a VERY important bug in 1.11. As well, special thanks to all the other
beta testers. I hope I remember to put their BBS numbers in this doc before
release!! People like: Stan Gunn & his BBS at 214-373-6732 and Samantha Cramer
at 803-669-6571. There are MANY more beta testers. Gotta get their names in
here soon. Here's to the BEST Beta tester I had who always called with bugs
(whether that's GOOD or not <g>) And his name is Michel Vaillencourt. Michel
is pronounced MICHELLE, but he's a male! And his bbs is the MetroCity BBS at
902-835-9766 at 14,400!
Thanks to Jamie Mac Millan and that's it.
I didn't register DoorFrame yet, because of how new this door is... we are
waiting to see if it's worth the $$... people have to send US money too!
(Hint hint hint)...
We REALLY want suggestions... the more the merrier. Call 902-625-5454 and
leave me some juicy ones. (Comment 2 the SysOp.)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
That's it. FEEL VERY VERY FREE to reach us at the above numbers. Unlike some,
we'd be overjoyed to assist you.
