  7. Oh my goodness--fifteen months since the release of BGTOP 1.9.   I
  8. have included some new  goodies  for you guys.   Many features are
  9. explained in the document.  The  'door' mode has been reworked and
  10. the maximum number of users BGTOP supports has been increased from
  11. 1800 to 2500.  Hopefully this helps.  I can't push it any more!

  15. It's been over five months since the last release of  BGTOP.   The
  16. reason is because I lost the  source code  and had to rebuild this
  17. version from scratch.   I  have tried  to make it identical to the
  18. other version, but it is still prone to errors.
  19.  
  20. GT 15.50 systems can now run  BGTOP  without the /FC parameter.  I
  21. fixed the color locate error.  As a result, the  /FC  parmeter has
  22. been removed.

  24. The maximum number of users BGTOP supports has been increased from
  25. 1500 to 1800 for you higher capacity systems.

  29. This is just a minor bug fix release.   Stephen Deplatter informed
  30. me that  BGTOP  was  not  registering  names  of  people  that had
  31. uploaded or downloaded more than 32 megabytes.  BGTOP now supports
  32. up to a full 64 megabytes!  (They must do alot of file tranfers in
  33. OZ, eh?)

  37. Someone requested that  I allow  BGTOP  to be run as a logon door,
  38. and  not have  to  make  a  bulletin  everytime.   BGTOP  now uses
  39. special direct screen writes (by Marshall Brain) for the "passing"
  40. mode and then  writes to  the  console  when it prints the report.
  41. To invoke this mode,  simply saye  "BGTOP DOOR [parameters]",  and
  42. it will work fine with  GATEWAY.   You can also redirect output to
  43. a  different  device by  "BGTOP DOOR [parameters] > DEVICE"  where
  44. DEVICE  can be  "COM1",  "C:\GT\TOPUSER.CBS",  etc.  Note that you
  45. will still see the "passing" screen,  however,  the user will only
  46. see the "bulletin".

  50. There have been both minor and major changes in the way that BGTOP
  51. handles things.   Hopefully none of the changes will cause you any
  52. trouble, as it seems to work fine over here now.
  53.  
  54. In order for me to find the bugs, I need a complete description of
  55. what the problem is.  I may request a copy of your USER.CTL and/or
  56. GT.CNF.
  57.  
  58. There is a new command  '/FC'  which will force BGTOP to use a set
  59. of hard coded colors  if it cannot read the  GT.CNF  properly,  or
  60. you  wish to use the  set yourselves.   BGTOP  will inform  you to
  61. use the /NF parameter when necessary.

  63. Please leave me a  netmail message to  001/040  telling me of your
  64. successes or failures with BGTOP 1.6.

  66. Finally,  special thanks  go to  Bob Camp.   He  gave me  a little
  67. lesson on Turbo Pascal structure and directives and actually fixed
  68. some of the coding in version 1.6.  Thanks Bob!
