:::: ABOUT THE AUTHOR :::: 1
We have been around for a few years now. underWEAR
SOFTware was originally solely produced by Al Maynard, but as
time went by John Schuit and I started to work together. So
when I say we this is what it is being referred to.
All the programs written by us are done in Turbo Pascal.
When a program is released like UpChk or Panorama we use our
own I/O Routines with are written in Assembly for speed.
When we use our I/O Routines it is because the programs are
designed for the use with all (or other specified) BBS
software types.
Quality before Quantity is what we have strived for. This
paid off with the release of the commercial program UpChk
(the file upload checker for Viruses, Integerity, etc., etc.)
and followed by the test drive version UPCHKTD. The UPCHKTD
was voted as one of the Top 17 programs released. It will be
included on a diskette with the book authored by Dana
Blankenhorn, publisher John Wiley & Sons due out in March of
92. When the book gets a title it will be posted on Harbor
Master.
Approximately 50% of the programs released by underWEAR
SOFTware require nothing but for the users to enjoy. The
others require a registration fee to compensate us for our
time, effort, and help the cover support costs.
:::: REG-FORM :::: 2
The list of programs that require a registration fee are
located in the text file called REG-FORM.-0-. All programs
that are registered are available for downloading off Harbor
Master via the door called AUTOREG * STOS! *.
If you would like the first registered programs sent to
you via U.S. Mail just provide the following.
1] A formatted diskette.
2] Self addressed diskette mailer.
3] Proper postage affixed to the diskette mailer to be
returned.
4] Place the contents in a large envelope and send it.
We are not responsible for nor obligated to replace any
damage to the incoming or out going diskette mailers or their
contents. We also do not take any responsibility for late,
non-deliverable or not delivered materials or programs do to
lose in the U.S. Mail.
With all the above conditions you can see why we took the
time to write a reliable registration program pickup door.
You just can't rely on the U.S. Mail like you used to.
:::: INTRODUCTION :::: 3
I changed the format of my system and needed to contact
all the users. Having several access levels I needed to
inform each group of the changes and could not send the same
message to each group. This could have been a BIG chore but
I wrote this little utility to do the manual work for me in
less than 2 seconds.
Once you have made your text file (explained in SETUP)
just run ALIAS-EZ and your ALIAS.DEF will be updated with the
group you have defined. Now just go into the BBS and send
them the message desired.
:::: FEATURES :::: 4
* Group name defined by you.
* Automatically updates your ALIAS.DEF.
:::: SETUP :::: 5
You need all 3 Parameters passed to ALIAS-EZ. The are:
ALIAS-EZ Access90 D:\SLBBS\DATA RegisteredUsers
^ ^ ^ ^
│ │ │ │
Program Name ──────────────┘ │ │ │
(1) Text file ALIAS-EZ reads from. ──┘ │ │
(2) Path to ALIAS.DEF ''\'' supplied by ALIAS-EZ. ─┘ │
(3) Name assigned to group trailing ''='' supplied by ALIAS-EZ. ───┘
PARAMSTRING #1
This is the file you need to make, you can name it
whatever you wish up to 8 characters (legal DOS limits). To
do this go into the BBS and use the 'USER' command. You can
pull out whatever information SLBBS allows you to from the
LIST or FIND commands, like Name, Location, System Type or
Access Levels. Make sure you log this information by ALT-L.
When finished with this group make sure you do ALT-L again to
close the Log file. It should look like this:
--- Log Open at Sat, 11-09-91, 10:20 am Online: SYSOP
Acc Last On Name System Location
130 11-01-91 ANDERS NORRBRING FTC 386/25 Malmoe - Sweden
130 10-29-91 JENS NEUMANN AT386 / AMIGA BREMEN / GERMANY
Now you need to edit this file to look like the following:
130 11-01-91 ANDERS NORRBRING FTC 386/25 Malmoe - Sweden
130 10-29-91 JENS NEUMANN AT386 / AMIGA BREMEN / GERMANY
Thats it!
PARAMSTRING #2
The Path you your ALIAS.DEF so ALIAS-EZ can update it..
PARAMSTRING #3
This is what you will type in to send this group the
message you prepared.
:::: FUTURE :::: 6
