  27.           General Information, Terms of Agreement, and Application

  30.  ACnet is a network for WWIV, QWK, NNTP or FIDO compatible bulletin boards.
  31.  If you would like to join, please read the following information
  32.  and terms of membership.  Then fill out this application.
  33.  
  34.  Once you've completed it, you must rename it to <last_name>.APP.  This is
  35.  to prevent it from being looked over or overwritten by another application.
  36.  Then upload it to Skulls & Crossbones, (telnet://skulls.sytes.net). 
  37.  Unless otherwise worked out, LD charges will be the responsibility of the
  38.  joining node. However, Internet makes this obsolete!
  39.

  61. Advanced Communications Network (ACnet) has been a prominent WWIV network in
  62. the Charlotte area for several years.  The way I, Eli Sanford, the
  63. current network co-ordinator, understand it, it began with the sysop of The
  64. Underground, currently known as Dragon Warrier.  He then passed it along to
  65. Clone1, who passed it to Lil' Abner of Dogpatch USA.  When Lil' Abner
  66. no longer was able to continue with ACnet, he asked Madam X of The Druid's Keep
  67. then the NC of CowboyNet, to take ACnet and merge the two largest WWIV based
  68. networks in Charlotte together.  CowboyNet originated with The Byter, sysop
  69. Carolina Cowboy/Spacecow of The Cyber Farm. Once Madam X could
  70. no longer handle the load, she passed ACnet on to Gate Keeper of The Gate BBS
  71. Who ran Acnet for years. Then the tourch was pasted to me Eli Sanford Of
  72. Skulls & Crossbones. Acnet is the largest network in the Charlotte,
  73. North Carolina area. I have since brought in Douglas Conner to convert ACnet
  74. to ftn & qwk hubs after that I feel very priviledged to be given the
  75. responsibility to continue the great efforts of all my predecessors, and
  76. grateful for the support of all the sysops in the network.  Together we make
  77. ACnet what it is today!!!

  81.                       Terms of Agreement for Membership

  84. Network Validation is supported and encouraged by the NC of ACnet.  Sysops
  85. may host whatever type of sub they wish, however, adult subs should be noted
  86. as such in the description.  Sub hosting is supported and encouraged as well.
  87. I'm sure each sysop has some great ideas.
  88.  
  89. BBS Taglines should remain within a maximum of five lines.  However, keep in
  90. mind that many networks require a limit of three, so this is a good guideline
  91. to follow if you belong to more networks than ACnet.  I ask that you do
  92. refrain from using profanity in your BBS taglines.  Taglines should NOT be
  93. ANSI codes!!! Ansi taglines make your posts unreadable as they scroll
  94. completely off the screen (no pauses).

  96. At times, it may become necessary for me, the NC, to ask a sysop to turn on
  97. network validation, restict a certain user from access to posting on ACnet,
  98. or other unforseen events.  ACnet sysops must be willing to agree by my
  99. requests in the event that this becomes necessary.

  101. ACnet does NOT support pirating, hacking, or phreaking of any manner!  ACnet
  102. sysops should NOT participate in the spreading of viruses, ansi bombs, or
  103. any destructive programs, and should NOT make these programs available for
  104. download, even if designated as such.  Virus scanning of uploads is
  105. encouraged.

  107. ACnet sysops should respect the privacy of their users, and should especially
  108. not use the priviledged information of user passwords to attempt to log onto
  109. other boards using a users account.  Sharing of user information, such as
  110. real names, address and phone numbers is allowed in the event of a problem
  111. user, but only with other ACnet sysops.  However passwords should NOT be
  112. shared even with other sysops. The sharing of ANY information about users
  113. should NEVER be given out to anyone except in the afore mentioned situation
  114. of sharing bad user info with other ACnet sysops in order to prevent problems
  115. with ACnet or ACnet BBS's.

  117. Flameing is not acceptable on ACnet if you or a user feel the need please
  118. take it to email. ACnet sysops will be responsable for there users flameing
  119. & will need to discipline them as they see fit
