  1. ****  Frequently Asked Questions about RAZOR 1911's Starcraft release ****

  3. Q: After I get to level 3, the game crashes out and complains of missing
  4.    SMK files. What do I do?
  5.  
  6. A: You need to download the 100% FIX we released for this game, that includes
  7.    all missing files. You do NOT need any other "level fix" for this game,
  8.    SC100FIX.ZIP is all you need.

  10. Q: After completing mission 9 of Terran, the game just goes back to the
  11.    mission select screen, but I know there is a mission 10. How do I fix
  12.    this?

  14. A: Grab our 100% fix we released: SC100FIX.ZIP

  16. Q: Are you sure I don't need any other fixes? I keep seeing all these
  17.    "level fixes" etc. on my local sites.

  19. A: Yes. These "fixes" were just interim patches created by users as they
  20.    played the game. Each level that played a missing cutscene would need
  21.    another .SMK file. The SC100FIX.ZIP that RAZOR released contains ALL
  22.    of the missing files, not just the ones for level 3.

  24. Q: I click on the Campaign Editor, and it keeps telling me to reboot my
  25.    system before I can use it. What's the problem?
  26.  
  27. A: Some older Windows 95 machines that have never been "updated" may have
  28.    an outdated COMCTL32.DLL file: the original one released with Windows
  29.    95 was buggy, so Microsoft released an update for it. Download this
  30.    update OR just use the COMCTL32.DLL file we have included in this
  31.    archive. You will need to reboot in MS-DOS mode and copy this file
  32.    over the one you have in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Then reboot,
  33.    and it should work like a charm.

  35. Q: Do you plan to add support for BATTLE.NET for the RAZOR release of
  36.    Starcraft?

  38. A: In short, no.
  39.    We have determined that generating valid CD-keys for battle.net is a
  40.    VERY complex undertaking (Blizzard designed it that way), and hence
  41.    I seriously doubt you will see such a generator ever appear. I released
  42.    a CD-Key generator for the full CD version of the game, but that only
  43.    passes the first initial CD-key check...further validity checks are
  44.    done on BATTLE.NET itself, and therefore make it VERY difficult to
  45.    consistently generate valid keys. The best you can do for the full CD
  46.    version is keep generating keys, and re-installing until you find one
  47.    that works. Obviously Blizzard learned a little from Origin and the
  48.    Ultima Online CD-Key system. =)

  50. Q: How can I play Starcraft over my TCP/IP Internet connection if
  51.    BATTLE.NET is not supported?
  52.  
  53. A: KALI (http://www.kali.net) has been confirmed as a working IPX emulator
  54.    for Starcraft's IPX multiplayer option. You should also check out the
  55.    Internet Gaming Zone at http://www.zone.com and check out their
  56.    ZONELAN area for information regarding their IPX emulator options.
  57.    Otherwise, go buy the game already. =)

  59. Q: Are there any addons available for the RAZOR release of Starcraft?

  61. A: A music addon is being released shortly. Speech/Movies are just too
  62.    big to create an addon for, so if you really want the full Starcraft
  63.    experience, buy the game. Heck, I did. =)

  65. Q: Whenever I start Starcraft, the screen goes black and hangs and/or the
  66.    sound is totally garbled. What do I have to do?

  68. A: You must have DirectX v5.0 installed, and should have the latest video
  69.    and sound drivers possible. Check your card's manufacturer for updates.

  71. Q: The cool Blizzard logo and your RAZOR 1911 logo only appeared the
  72.    first time I ran Starcraft. How can I have it displayed again?

  74. A: Use REGEDIT and edit the following key:

  76.    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft\intro
  77.  
  78.    Change it to a 1 to have the intro play again.
