  10. Many Software packed with InstallShield ask for a password to
  11. unpack. That protection is also known as "Package for the Web".
  12.  
  13. The password protection scheme is very weak and absolute easy to
  14. crack. For comfortable use run SP_ISHI2 on any software packed
  15. with Versions 1.0, 1.3x and 2.x
  16.  
  17. If v 1.3x is found a "dummy" file named "i" is created when patched.
  18. That "dummy" is a copy of the original program before the patch was
  19. done. YOU NEED that file when you run the patched program. Ensure to
  20. have the "right" file "i" in (in doubt check FileSize of "i" and
  21. the InstallShield protected program you have patched. They must be
  22. the same.

  24. IMPORTANT NOTE: it was seldom observed that a patched v 1.32 prog
  25. could not be started (e.g. with upgrade for SubmitWolf 3.x). No
  26. problem: copy the InstallShield protected program in a separate
  27. empty directory and apply SP_ISHI2 there. Now run the patched prog
  28. and it works. You will be asked where to unpack the software inside.
  29. Select the appropriate directory (e.g. for SubmitWolf select the
  30. directory where SubmitWolf is installed).
