  18. ================
  19. This package was intended for discovering "forgotten" passwords for
  20. files created with programs from the Microsoft Office.
  21.  
  22. Since I don't have time to support any registered users, I have
  23. decided to release this program as *CardWare*. I don't remember who
  24. coined that term, but its meaning is simple:
  25.  
  26. If you like the program, send me a postcard. Picture postcards from
  27. the area where you live are preferred. On the card you may write
  28. anything you like, e. g. how much you like the program, what a great
  29. person I am, or whatever comes to your mind.  Be creative! :-)

  82. Q: "When the version for Office 97 documents will be available?"
  83. A: Alpha version of a brute force cracker is ready. It's too slow
  84.    to be released (1000 pwd/second), I'm now working on next
  85.    version.

  87. Q: "When I run the program it says 'Working...failed'. What is that
  88.    supposed to mean?"
  89. A: File is not password protected or program used is not in the
  90.    list of supported programs. Check the list. If information
  91.    is vital for you and file size is less than 512KB you can
  92.    try to send it to me, and maybe I can help you.

  94. Q: "I can open file, but I can't change anything, or edit forms.
  95.    Can I obtain protection passwords with this program?"
  96. A: No. This program is intended for recovering lost
  97.    passwords required to _open_ documents, not to _change_ them.
  98.    You could try ex_pass available at the home page.

  100. Q: "I found a bug, what should I do?"
  101. A: Please report it to me, but I don't guarantee that it will be
  102.    fixed. I will try. ;)

  107. Q: "I'm running Win 3.1, Win32s, OS/2 or WABI, will your program run

  111. Q: "Will your program recover passwords for MS Access files?"
  112. A: No.

  114. 8. Adding additional localized version
  115. ======================================
  116. To include an additional localized Word or Excel version in a future
  117. release I need two files. Both should contain following text
  118. (with no quotes):

  120. 'This is a test file for ms of pass. 0123456789ABCDEF.'
  121.  
  122. Word files should contain only this text, Excel files should
  123. contain this text in A1 cell.
  124.  
  125. First file should be with no password, and the second protected with
  126. password 'justatest' (with no quotes again).

  128. Please ZIP files before sending them to me. If you would like to see
  129. your name (and optionally e-mail) in documentation please send it
  130. along with files.

  132. 9. Future versions
  133. ==================
  134. For now I stopped development of 1.XXX version. Now I'm researching
  135. algorithms used by Office 97 to protect data. I'm not quite
  136. sure that Office 97 version will ever be released, but I really hope so.
