- Compu-Chef 2.0 Overview Page: 5
-
- Well enough legal mumbo jumbo, lets get down to business. What is
- Compu-Chef and why does it exist? That is the question we are going to
- try to answer for you here.
-
- I was calling the BBS's to find a good recipe program, but I didn't
- care too much for the ones I found. They weren't bad, but seemed
- awkward to me. I thought about buying one, but I prefer to try
- something before I buy it, so that wasn't a good alternative. I
- thought about writing one myself, but I knew it would take me to long
- to get a good one finished. So I started talking to a good friend and
- fellow programmer, Pete. Well, Pete didn't think much of the idea at
- first, but I kept bugging him about it. Then one day he called my BBS
- and looked at the cooking echo. When he saw that there was over 100
- messages on cooking and recipes, posted there daily, he saw some
- potential. So we talked about features and he started working on it.
- Pretty soon he was really getting into it.
-
- Compu-Chef is a very easy to use program, and you may never need
- to read this manual. There are some features that may not be
- apparently obvious, but will be explained later.
-
-
- System Requirements
-
- Compu-Chef can be run from a floppy disk system, although we recommend
- a hard disk. A system with at least 384k is required for this version.
- A printer is required for printing recipes. Compu-Chef will run on an
- XT class machine or higher meeting the above requirements.
-
- The newest demo version of Compu-Chef may be obtained from CompuServe
- COOKS Forum, or contact Pete Sciacchetano : 70152,2461

-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Features Page: 6
-
- Compu-Chef is a feature laden program, and the easiest way to see the
- various features is to use the program, and read the on screen
- instructions. For completeness though, here is a brief list of the
- many features of Compu-Chef.
-
- 1) Add recipes with the following information available: Title,
- 3 Categories, Serving size, Time to prepare, Fat, Cholesterol,
- Calories, Ingredients, Directions and Source of recipe.
-
- 2) You can edit existing recipes from the main menu by simply
- highlighting the recipe and pressing the enter key or the letter
- E. Once you pull the recipe up on the screen you can edit
- ingredients, directions, or perform many other functions.
-
- 3) You can delete any recipe from the main menu by pressing the
- letter D. Before the recipe is deleted, you will see the entire
- recipe for you to confirm the deletion.
-
- 4) You can mark recipes in many different ways. You can mark your
- FAVORITES, or mark recipes for a SHOPPING LIST, EXPORT or PRINTOUT.
-
- 5) You can export any recipe by highlighting it and pressing the
- letter X from the main menu. The program will ask you for a file
- name to which it may be exported. This feature is handy to
- export a recipe for transferring to a bulletin board system.
-
- 6) Any recipe can be printed from the main screen by just
- highlighting the one you want to printout and pressing the letter
- P. Recipes can be printed on paper or almost any size index card!
-
- 7) You can find recipes in many different ways. For example, you
- can get a list of all your FAVORITE recipes, or all desserts, or
- even a list of recipes that use chicken, or any combination. This
- is extremely useful in deciding what to make. The find function
- is accessed by pressing F from the main menu.
-
- 8) A quick search is available from the main menu by pressing the
- letter Q. You will then be prompted for a sequence of
- letters to search for. So if you want to find Crawfish Etouffee,
- you can press Q, then Cr, and you will be brought to the first
- recipe that begins with Cr.
-
- 9) The shopping list feature makes shopping easy. Once you have
- marked the recipes you wish included in your shopping list, you
- can select this option to generate the shopping list. It will
- tell you what recipes it is shopping for, then combine the like
- ingredients, and convert them to the best unit of measure for
- ease of shopping. There is also a misc. shopping list that
- allows you to enter shopping goods that are not food related. You
- can then clear all marked recipes and the misc. shopping list.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Features Page: 7
-
- 10) Reports let you print out the recipes that are displayed. In
- other words, if you have done a find on all cajun recipes, when you
- run the report function it will print all the cajun recipes.
- Recipes can be printed in report format, full page, or on index
- cards.
-
- 11) There is an information system, which contains helpful information
- including Nutritional, Food storage, Measurement equivalents,
- Cooking terms, and a miscellaneous file for you to put your own
- information. All these information screens are editable, and you
- may enter any information you want.
-
- 12) The Utility menu is accessed by pressing the letter U from the
- main menu. From this menu you can import and export recipes,
- perform category maintenance, ingredient maintenance, tell
- Compu-Chef how to display the quantities, clear marks, and fix up
- the data files.
-
- 13) Recipes can be grouped into different recipe sets or directories
- on your disk or different disks. This allows you to work with
- smaller sets of recipes which can improve ease use and program
- performance.
-
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 What Makes Compu-Chef So Special? Page: 8
-
- There is no other recipe management program like Compu-Chef. It
- contains features unmatched by any other program, with a user interface
- that is easy to use.
-
- As far we know, there is no other recipe program that lets you
- immediately see recipes in your database. Most of the other programs
- require you to enter a number, name, category, or another criteria
- just to view a recipe. We believe this is one major feature of
- Compu-Chef. Once you start the program you can instantly view any
- recipe just by highlighting it and pressing the enter key, or the E
- key.

- self-explanatory. Just use the appropriate letter for the function
- you wish to perform.

-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Let's add a recipe Page: 9
-
- Adding a recipe is very simple. Simply press [A] from the main menu.
- The following screen will appear.
-
- ┌────────────────────────── Add Recipe ──────────────────────────────┐
- │ │
- │ Title │
- │ │
- │ Source Number of Servings │

- │ Categories 1 Fat (grams) per Serving │

- └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- When this screen appears, type in the recipe information. To see a
- list of keys for maneuvering around these screens, see appendix A.
- Enter the recipe title. Next you can enter the source of the recipe,
- (for example, "The CC Cookbook - page 43.") Now, assign the recipe to
- up to 3 categories. To see a quick list of categories already entered,
- simply press enter in this blank field, and a pop up pick list will
- appear and let you make your selection.
-
- You can pick one of the ┌──[Select item]─┐
- existing categories or │ - Add to list -│
- you can press the up │ │

- You can also jump to a │ Main Dish │

-
- If you enter a category that is not in the list it will ask you if
- you would like to add it.
-
- After entering the categories, you can enter the number of servings,
- the approximate cooking time, then three items for the health
- conscious, fat, cholesterol, and calories. That's it for the main
- recipe information. Next, you will see the following screen:
-

- Compu-Chef 2.0 Let's add a recipe Page: 10
-
- You are now ready to start entering ingredients. To start, just press
- the letter [I], INSert, or ENTER on the ─── End ─── line. I prefer
- using ENTER, it's easier when inserting many ingredients. Next, the
- following screen appears:
-
- ┌────────────────────────── Add Ingredients ───────────────────────────┐
- │ │
- │ Quantity Unit Name │
- │ │
- │ When adding ingredients, you may enter the quantity using │
- │ fractions or decimals. If you want to enter an ingredient │
- │ like DICED ONIONS, enter it >> ONIONS - DICED << │
- └──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- This is the screen where you enter the quantity, unit of measure
- and the Name of the ingredient. Depending on how you have your
- Quantity display set up from the Utility Menu, determines how your
- quantities will be displayed here. You can actually enter the
- quantity in fraction or decimal form, and it will be converted to
- whichever display Compu-Chef is setup for. So if you enter 1.5 and you
- are setup for fractions, it will convert it to 1 1/2 automatically.
-
- Next is the unit of measure. If you just hit the enter key here, you
- will be presented with a pop up pick list.
-
- ┌────[Select item]───┐
- │ = As required │ You can select any of the items
- │can = Can │ from the pick list or enter your
- │cup = Cup │ own. Compu-Chef has an extensive
- │ea = Each │ unit conversion system, so keep
- │gal = Gallon │ in mind that if you enter
- │g = Gram │ something other than from the
- │oz = Ounce │ pick list, CC won't be able to
- │pkg = package │ convert it to any other unit. So
- │pt = Pint │ try to use qt for Quart instead of
- │lb = Pound │ Qrt. There are 3 exceptions to
- │qt = Quart │ this, first, you can enter a capital
- │Tbsp = Tablespoon │ [T] for Tablespoon, a small [t] for
- │tsp = Teaspoon │ teaspoon, and [c] for Cup.
- └────────────────────┘
-
- Once you have selected the unit of measure, you can enter the name of
- the ingredient. We recommend that you enter the actual ingredient as
- the first word, then any specifications on how that item should be
- prepared. (i.e. Onions - Diced, instead of Diced Onions) This helps
- when searching for recipes by ingredient names. That's all to entering
- in an ingredient line. Just keep hitting [I], or ENTER, until all of
- the ingredients have been entered. After that, you are ready to
- enter your directions for the recipe. You can press the right arrow
- key or the [F4] key to enter the directions. Pressing the right
- arrow allows you to enter the directions while still viewing the
- ingredients, while pressing [F4] allows you to enter the directions in
- a zoom mode. After entering the directions press [Esc] and you will
- be asked if you wish to save the changes. When entering the
- directions, you are actually using a mini-word processor, and if you
- know WordStar commands, you can use them.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Let's add a recipe Page: 11
-
- You can use the [F3] and [F4] keys to zoom in and out between the
- ingredients and the directions.
-
- After entering all the required information for the recipe, you can
- just hit the [Esc] key, which will bring you back to the main menu.
-
- That is all it take to enter a recipe, very easy and intuitive. After
- entering a recipe your screen should look similar to the following:
-
- CRAWFISH PIE Serves 6 Time 1:00

- └───────────────────────────────────┴───────────────────────────────────┘
-
- Editing a Recipe
-
- To edit a recipe just press [E] from the main menu. You will be
- presented with the recipe to edit, and a status line like the
- following at the bottom of the screen:
-
- ┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
- │Ingredients: F3-Zoom I/Ins-Insert D/Del-Delete Enter-Change U-Units│
- │F2-Edit Info F4-Direct F5-Servings P-Print X-Export M-Mark │
- └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- There are many things you can do when editing a recipe. You can press
- [F2] to edit the header information, that contains the title,
- categories, and other information. You can add ingredients, by placing
- the light bar where you wish to insert the ingredient and press the
- [I] or INSert key. You can also delete an ingredient by pressing [D]
- or the DELete key, upon which you will be asked to confirm the
- deletion. Hit enter on an ingredient to edit it. One of the major
- features is the Unit conversion feature. You can change from Tbsp to
- Cups simply by pressing the letter U. You can cycle through the
- different units of measure. This is one of the reasons you might want
- to use our units of measurement. You can edit the directions by
- pressing the right arrow key or the [F4] key.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Editing a Recipe Page: 12
-
- Another one of the many significant features of Compu-Chef, is the
- ability to change the servings size of a recipe. You can change the
- number of servings to up to 999, and the ingredient quantities will
- automatically be adjusted. The quantities will by converted to the
- best unit of measurement, so you won't have 200 Tbsps of salt, you will
- have 3 1/8 quarts.
-
- You can print your recipe right from this screen by pressing [P].
-
- Next, you can eXport your recipe. By pressing the [X] key, you can
- export your recipe to the disk. This is handy if you wish to trade
- recipes with a friend or post one on a Bulletin Board System (BBS).
- You will be asked for the filename to export to, and if it already
- exists, you will be asked if you wish to append the recipe, or replace
- the file altogether. See you DOS documentation for information on
- naming files.
-
- The last option on the editing screen is marking. You can mark the
- recipe for 4 different groups: FAVORITE, SHOPPING LIST, PRINTOUT, and
- EXPORT. See 'Marking from main menu' below, for more information.
-
-
- Now to delete a recipe.
-
- This will be a very short section, as it doesn't take much to delete
- a recipe. Just press the letter [D] from the main menu and you will
- be shown the recipe you requested to delete, and asked to confirm the
- deletion. If you confirm the deletion by pressing enter, the recipe
- will be deleted. Use this with caution, once a recipe is deleted it
- can't be retrieved.
-
- Marking from main menu.
-
- You can mark any recipe from the main menu for your Favorite list,
- Shopping list, Exporting, or Print to be printed out. After selecting
- [M] from the main menu you will see a screen similar to the following:
-
- ┌─────────────── Mark Recipe ──────────────┐ Highlight the category
- │ │ you wish to mark. A
- │ √ Favorite List (F5) │ check mark appears to
- │Mark Recipe for: Shopping List (F6) │ show that it has been

- │ │ The F5-F8 keys can be
- └─────────────── ESC to Quit ──────────────┘ used from the Main Menu.
-
-
-
- eXport a recipe from the main menu.
-
- You can export any recipe from the main menu by highlighting the
- recipe of your choice and pressing [X]. You will be prompted for a
- filename to export to. The default is [EXPORT.CCF] but this can be
- changed by simply typing over it. If the file already exists, you
- will be asked if you wish to append the recipe to the file or replace
- the file all together with the recipe.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Printing from the main menu. Page: 13
-
- Any recipe can be printed directly from the main menu simply by
- pressing the letter [P]. You will be asked to press the enter key
- when you are ready to print.
-
-
- Finding Recipes
-
- This is by far one of the most important features of the program.
- After selecting this option (the [F] key from the main menu) you will
- be presented with a screen that looks like the following:
-
- ┌──────────────────────── Find Recipes ───────────────────────────┐
- │ │
- │ Enter any or all of the following : │
- │ │
- │ Recipe Title │
- │ │
- │ Category │
- │ │
- │ Ingredient │
- │ Use the singular form of the name for best search.│
- │ │
- └─ Favorites Shopping Exports Printout? FSEP ───────────────┘
-
- You can search by any of the above criteria or any combination of
- them. If you wish to skip a certain area use the down arrow key,
- otherwise a pop up pick list will appear. A pop up pick list will
- appear for the Category and the Ingredient fields. This is a very
- helpful feature, as you don't have to remember the way the ingredients
- were entered. After entering the selection criteria, you will be
- presented with a list of recipes that match your request if any exist.
- A screen similar to the following will appear:
-
- Recipes Time Cals Mark

- A double box is placed around the recipes so you know you are viewing
- selected recipes. You are also shown the criteria that the selected
- recipes meet by the statements under the double box (i.e.
- Category=MAIN DISH in this case). After you have viewed the selected
- recipes you can press [Esc] to get back to the list of all the recipes.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Finding recipes in a hurry. Page: 14
-
- By pressing [Q] from the main menu you can perform a quick search.
- This allows you to "jump" to a particular recipe or at least get
- somewhere in the neighborhood of the recipe you are searching for.
- After pressing [Q] you are prompted to enter a string of letters to
- search for, so if you are looking for 'Eggplant casserole' you can
- type in [Q]-[eg] and Compu-Chef will bring you to the first occurrence
- of 'eg'. This comes in handy if you have a several hundred recipes
- and want to find one real quick.
-
-
- Let's go shopping
-
- Shopping list is the next option from the main menu. This allows you
- to generate a shopping list from recipes that have been 'marked' as
- such. Upon selecting [S] from the main menu, you will be presented
- with the following:
-
- ┌─── Shopping List Menu ────┐
- │ │
- │ N New shopping list │
- │ E Edit shopping list │
- │ M Misc shopping list │
- │ P Print shopping list │
- │ C Clear list/marks │
- │ │
- └────── Esc to return ──────┘
-
- After selecting [N] from the above menu, a new shopping list will be
- generated. It will show you which recipes it is shopping for and then
- tell you that it is combining the ingredients. You can then use [E]
- to edit the generated shopping list if you wish to delete anything.
- The shopping list shows you the ingredient and the recipe for each
- ingredient. There is also a miscellaneous shopping list for you to
- enter such things as tooth paste, toilet paper, or any other thing not
- pertaining to the recipes. You can access this by pressing [M] from
- the print shop sub menu. After you have printed your shopping list or
- the next time you choose to do so, you can clear the recipes marked
- with an 'S'. You can also clear the miscellaneous shipping list. To
- clear these you can use [C] from the sub menu.
-
-
- Print recipes with the Reports option.
-
- By selecting [R] reports from the main menu, you can print out your
- recipes or just the titles of them. This function works in
- conjunction with the Find option. If all the recipes are shown you
- will be presented a screen like this:
-
- ┌─────────────────────────── Report ──────────────────────────┐

-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Print recipes with the Reports option. Page: 15
-
- This will print all the recipes. If you select [P], it will print the
- complete recipes. If you select [T] just the title for each one will
- be printed. If you select [I] index cards will be printed.
-
- If you wish to print just the 'Main Dishes', you can use the find from
- the main menu and do a search by category for main dish after which you
- would be presented with a screen like the following:
-
- ┌─────────────────────────── Report ──────────────────────────┐
- │ │
- │This will print the recipes currently selected. │
- │ │
- │Category=MAIN DISH │
- │ │
- │Print full Page recipe, Title only, or Index card P/T/I ? P │
- └─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- This would print out the Main Dishes, and again either the complete
- recipe or just the titles can be printed. If you wish to print index
- cards, select [I]. A screen similar to the following will appear:
-
- ┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
- │ Format #1 Format #2 │
- │Name 3 X 5 Normal 3 X 5 Compressed │
- │Pre-print code |15 │
- │Post-print code |18 │
- │# lines per card 18 18 │
- │# chars per line 50 80 │
- │Ingrd columns 1/2 1 2 │
- └──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- You have two default index card formats to choose from. Each format can
- be changed at any time. The changes will be saved. The pre & post
- print codes allow for compressed printing, or other printer features.
- To specify the codes, use any characters, or use the | character
- followed by a number representing the ascii character to send to the
- printer. (For example, |27 is an ESC character.) The Ingrd columns 1/2
- field, determines how many columns of ingredients to print per line.

- Compu-Chef's information screens
-
- Compu-Chef has 5 information screens. These are editable information
- screens that you can enter any information you want. We have entered
- some helpful information in these for you, but feel free to modify them
- in anyway you see fit.

- Utilities options.
-
- The last option from the main menu is the utility menu. After
- selecting [U] from the main menu, you will be presented with the
- following choices:
-
- ┌───── Utilities Menu ───────┐
- │ │
- │ I Import Recipes │
- │ E Export Recipes │
- │ Q Quantity Display │
- │ C Category Maintenance │
- │ N Ingredient Maintenance │
- │ M Clear Marks │
- │ U Use/Make new recipe set │
- │ F Fix Files │
- └────────────────────────────┘
-
- This allows you to set up and perform various utility options of
- Compu-Chef.
-
-
- After selecting [I] from this sub menu, you will be presented with the
- following:
-
- ┌─────────────────────────── Import Recipes ─────────────────────────┐
- │ │
- │ Import File Name import.ccf │
- │ │
- │ Approve each Recipe Y/N N Check for duplicates Y/N Y │
- │ │
- │ │
- │ │
- └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- This screen allows you to import recipes. If a friend is using
- Compu-Chef, Meal Master or any other program that can export recipes,
- you can use this to import them. Compu-Chef CURRENTLY recognizes Meal
- Master recipes automatically. Other types of recipes should be edited
- to match the EASY text format shown next.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Importing recipes. Page: 17
-
- WE WILL BE REGULARLY ADDING OTHER RECIPE TYPES TO OUR AUTOMATIC IMPORTING,
- SO BE SURE TO SEND IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORM, OR CHECK WITH US TO RECEIVE
- THE LATEST VERSION.
-
- The title goes on ┌────────────────────────────────────────────
- the first line ----------->│Barbecue Pork Chops
- On the next three lines -->│Main Dish
- is where the categories \->│Beef
- are placed. \>│
- Then the number of servings│4
- Then you skip a line ----->│
- The ingredients are next ->│1 c Brown Sugar
- The quantity starts on │1/2 c catsup
- the first column. │1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- Unit of measure starts on │2 T vinegar
- the ninth column. │3 T mustard
- The description starts on │8 pork chops
- the fourteenth column. >│
- Then skip another line --/ │Combine first 5 ingredients and pour over
- Then the directions ------>│Cook at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
- Then the source of rcp---->│Source:Compu-Chef's Kitchen pg. 1
- Then 3 dashes to complete >│---
- the recipe. │
-
- This is very easy to do, as I have done several. If you set up tab
- stops at the ninth and fourteenth column you can jump right through
- the recipes. I have used Qedit from Semware which has a real nice
- feature that I believe is called smart tab stops. Anyway, it knows
- where to indent to, from the line above the one your editing. After
- you have entered one ingredient line you can just hit the tab key to
- bring you to the unit of measure and the ingredient description.
-
- You are also allowed to approve each recipe when importing. This is
- handy if a friend sends you a large file with a bunch of recipes that
- you wish to selectively import. You can also quit at any point when
- using this option.

-
- This screen allows you to export your recipes in Compu-Chef format.
- You can export All your recipes, your favorites, ones marked for
- shopping or ones marked for exporting. You can also selectively
- export each recipe by answering [Y] to approve each recipe.
-
-
- Category Maintenance
-
- You can perform category maintenance by selecting [C] from the utility
- sub menu. This allows you to delete, change or add categories. After
- selecting category maintenance, you will be presented with a screen
- similar to the following:
-
- ┌───────────── Category Maintenance ──────────────┐
- │ │
- │ Ins - Add ┌──────────────────────────┐ │
- │ Enter - Edit │ │ │
- │ Del - Delete │ Dessert │ │
- │ │ Main Dish │ │
- │ │ Sandwich │ │
- │ │ │ │
- │ │ │ │
- │ │ │ │
- │ └──────────────────────────┘ │
- │ │
- └───────────────── Esc to quit ───────────────────┘
-
- By pressing the INSert key you can add a category. If you press enter
- on any particular category, you will be allowed to change it. It will
- also change any associated recipes. This is very handy if you have
- three different categories you wish to combine into one. (i.e. sweets,
- pies, and desserts). If you wish to change all of these to desserts,
- highlight sweets, press enter, and change it to desserts. Do the same
- for pies. The last selection, is to delete a category simply chosen by
- pressing the DELete key.
-
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Ingredient Maintenance Page: 19
-
- You can also perform ingredient maintenance in much of the same way as
- category maintenance. After selecting [N] from the utility sub menu
- you will be presented with a screen similar to the following:
-
- ┌───────────────── Ingredient Maintenance ──────────────────┐
- │ ┌───────────────────────────────────────┐ │
- │ │10" Pie Plate (Double Crust) │ │
- │ Enter - Edit │Beef - Roast │ │
- │ Del - Delete │Bell Pepper - Diced │ │
- │ │Bread Crumbs - Seasoned │ │
- │ │Butter │ │
- │ │Butter - Stick │ │
- │ │Celery Stalks - Diced │ │
- │ │Corn Meal │ │
- │ │Crawfish Tails - Coarsely Chopped │ │
- │ └───────────────────────────────────────┘ │
- └────────────────────── Esc to quit ────────────────────────┘
-
- This is handy if you have something like: Diced onions, onions chopped,
- and Onions minced, and you wish to change them all to Onions - Diced.
- You can also delete any ingredient from here, but use this with
- caution, as the ingredient will be removed from all of your recipes.
-
-
- Clearing marked recipes
-
- Using the clear marks function, you can clear any set of marks. If you
- wish to clear all recipes marked as your favorite, hit [M] from the
- utility sub menu and then [F] for favorite. This is an alternative to
- doing each one individually.
-
-
- Use/Make new recipe set
-
- This feature allows you to separate recipes into different sets. This
- can be helpful in many ways, such as keeping your recipes separate from
- someone else's, or keeping main courses separate from desserts, etc.
- This also improves the speed of the program. You can specify floppy
- drives if you want to keep recipes on removable disks. With this
- option, you can create a new recipe set, or use an existing one.
-
- Compu-Chef 2.0 Use/Make new recipe set. Page: 20
-
- After selecting this option, you will see:
-
- ┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
- │Current recipe set: C:\CC │
- │ │
- │Directory location │
- │ │
- │If recipe set is not found, it will be created. │
- └─────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
-
- If creating a new set, enter the name of the directory to store recipes.
- You will then be asked:
-
- Copy the current CATEGORY list or create a new one C/N ?
-
- Answer C to copy the category list from your current set to the new
- set. Answer N to create a new set with a clean category list.
-
- Copy the current INGREDIENT list or create a new one C/N ?
-
- Answer C to copy the ingredient list from your current set to the new
- set. Answer N to create a new set with a clean ingredient list.
-
- When selecting a directory, pressing enter in the blank field will pop
- up a directory pick-list.
-
-
- Fixing data files
-
- You shouldn't ordinarily need to use this option. If for some reason
- the index files get messed up either from a power outage or from a
- system lock up, you can choose [F] from the utility sub menu upon which
- time you will be asked to press any key. This function also recovers
- lost space from deleted recipes, so it is not a bad idea to use this
- option every couple of months, or after deleting many recipes.
-
-
- As you can see by the many features of Compu-Chef, it is a very
- powerful program. Pete and I have worked very hard on this project and
- will continue to support it, if those who use it support use. We
- already have plans in the works to make Compu-Chef better, with even
- other programs for household use.
-
- Any suggestions on making Compu-Chef better or ideas for another type
- of program would be greatly appreciated. You can reach us through
- Compu-Serve 70152,2461 If you make a suggestion that is incorporated
- into a future release, your name will be mentioned in the documentation.
