  8. different version than he gave to Brock Meeks. The following are Al
  9. Johnson's original comments as transcribed from the original
  10. conversation.  We leave it to readers to decide for themselves what Al

  19. Pentagon City Mall

  21. B. Meeks:  I'd like to ask you a few questions about an incident where
  22. some of your security guards broke up a meeting of some hackers
  23. on Friday (Nov. 6).
  24.  
  25. Al Johnson:  They broke up some meeting of hackers?
  26.  
  27. B. Meeks: Yes.

  29. AJ:  I don't know about breaking any meeting up.  Who... first of
  30. all I can't talk to you on the phone, if you want to come in, I
  31. don't talk to the press on the phone.

  35. AJ:  Ahh... maybe you outta call the Secret Service, they're
  36. handling this whole thing.  We, we were just here.

  40. AJ:  Well, FBI, Secret Service, everybody was here, so you might
  41. want to call their office and talk to them.  There's not much I
  42. can really tell you here.

  46. AJ:  Our involvement was minimum, you know, minimal.

  48. B. Meeks:  I see, but your folks were acting on...

  50. AJ:  We didn't break anything... I.. we didn't.. as far as I
  51. know, well I can't say much on the phone.  But I, well,
  52. somebody's awfully paranoid apparently.  Where'd you get this
  53. information from?

  69. AJ:  [small laugh]  Ah, yeah, you gotta call the FBI and the
  70. Secret Service there's not much I can do for you here.

  72. B. Meeks:  Ok.  Al, if I come down there will you talk to me to down
  73. there?

  75. AJ:  No.  I can't talk to you at all.  Fact is, there's nothing
  76. to talk about.  Our involvement in anything was minimal, I don't

  78. and breaking meetin's up and you know...

  80. B. Meeks:  Well, the Arlington police were down there too.  I mean I've
  81. talked to several of the kids that were involved.

  85. B. Meeks:  They said, that ah, members of your, of the mall security
  86. forces, ah, or security staff, searched them, confiscated some
  87. material and didn't give it back.  Did any of this happen?

  89. AJ:  Like I said, I'm not, I'm not able to talk to you... we have
  90. a policy that we don't talk to the press about anything like
  91. that.  You can call the Secret Service, call the FBI, they're the
  92. ones that ramrodded this whole thing, and you talk to them, we're
  93. out of this basically, you know, as far as I'm concerned here.

  95. B. Meeks:  Ok.  Is there a contact person over there that you can...

  97. AJ:  Ah.. you know, I don't have a contact person.  These people
  98. were working on their own, undercover, we never got any names,

  102. of your men?

  104. AJ:  Ah, nah, that's not what I said.  But they're the ones you
