  8. Walnut Creek, California - December 1, 1993 - The FreeBSD CDROM is
  9. now available from Walnut Creek CDROM.  The disc contains the
  10. complete FreeBSD 1.0 operating system, a full 4.3 BSD compatible 32
  11. bit operating system with features from 4.4 BSD.

  13. Installation is simple, consisting of a few questions.  Also included
  14. is a Multi-OS boot system which allows one to boot into Free BSD or
  15. any other operating system.

  17. FreeBSD Features:

  19. XFree86 2.0 (X11R5 patch level 25 for the PC) with direct support for
  20. the VGA/SVGA, TSENG ET3000 / ET4000, S3 801/805/928, ATI Ultra /
  21. Ultra Pro and IBM 8514 accelerated graphics cards.  Also ready-to-run
  22. X11 utilities and libraries such as XView, XV, Tcl/TK, JPEG library,
  23. etc.

  25. Full Berkeley style networking:

  27. FreeBSD contains full USENET NEWS and mail reading software (elm and
  28. mh).  Support for TCP/IP networking, SLIP, PPP, telnet, ftp, gopher,
  29. archie, and industry standard NFS and YP services as standard.

  31. Complete ANSI/POSIX-1003.1 compliant development environment
  32. including kernel source, C and C++ compilers 2.3.5, GDB, lex and
  33. yacc, f2c (fortran to C) compiler, kernel debuggers, source level
  34. debuggers, profilers, Gnu emacs 19.19, and perl, etc.

  36. Includes TeX 3.14, dvips, ghostscript, FlexFax fax software, ksh,
  37. tcsh, and bash shells, sc spreadsheet, Ingres database, etc.  Also
  38. audio support for SoundBlaster, ProAudio Spectrum, Gravis UltraPro
  39. and compatible sound cards.  Everything comes with source code.  With
  40. FreeBSD's tightly integrated build system, the whole source tree can
  41. be made with one command.

  43. The FreeBSD has ISO 9660 and Rock Ridge cdrom support.  The disc is
  44. in Rock Ridge format with source on the CDROM in long native file
  45. names.
