  14.     A FRIEND of a friend worked as an airline pilot and for years flew the
  15. JFK-Heathrow run. There were many amusing incidents, but one still makes him
  16. chuckle the most. 
  17.  
  18.     He'd flown a jumbo into London, and when all the passengers had
  19. disembarked, one of the stewardesses found a small carved box under a seat.
  20. When she opened it, she found some suspicious-looking powder inside. Customs
  21. staff specially trained to deal with drug trafficking quickly arrived and one
  22. officer opened the box, licking his finger before dipping it into the powder
  23. and putting it into his mouth to taste it.

  25.     "Well, it's not a narcotic," he said, efficiently. Just then, an elderly
  26. lady tottered along the aisle and asked the stewardess if she'd happened to
  27. come across a small engraved casket. It apparently contained her husband's
  28. ashes.
