  15. Thank you for evaluating at VirusNet, an automatic anti-virus and
  16. disaster recovery system from Safetynet, Inc.  VirusNet has
  17. passed the certification tests of independent agencies such as
  18. the National Computer Security Association and provides effective
  19. protection against viruses.

  21. A. Installing VirusNet from Windows
  22.  
  23. 1. Start Microsoft Windows.
  24. 2. Run SETUP.EXE from the directory where VirusNet files are stored.
  25. 3. You will have the option of creating a Program Manager or desktop
  26.    group to launch the VirusNet programs.  If you are not using Program
  27.    Manager or Windows95, add VNWIN.EXE to your menu shell.

  31. The DOS eval is installed by copying the VirusNet files to a directory.

  37. VirusNet can be run from the DOS command-line or through its DOS and
  38. Windows interfaces.

  40. From the DOS command-line:
  41. 1. Run VN.EXE to receive a list of command-line options.
  42.    - To scan your C: drive, type VN C:

  44. From Windows:
  45. 1. Select the "VirusNet" icon or run VNWIN.EXE directly.
  46.    - Extensive context-sensitive help is available by pressing F1.
  47. 2. Click on the "Begin Scan" button from the Express Scan window.

  50. 1. Run the VNDOS.EXE program.
  51.    - Context-sensitive help is available by pressing F1.

  64. The DOS and Windows versions of VirusNet operate in a similar way.
  65. Feel free to explore the various menu choices and command buttons with

  70. D. VirusNet v2.24 Changes

  73. Many new viruses have appeared recently. Since v2.24a was released,
  74. we've added detection of over 700 new viruses.
  75.  
  76. We also added detection of Moloch, which was the only virus on the
  77. "Wild list" that we did not detect.  This means that as far as we know,
  78. VirusNet now detects all the viruses that are considered a "real" problem
  79. anywhere in the world.

  81. Finally we corrected an error in in the memory detection of certain
  82. viruses.

  84. Version 2.24 - major changes:
  85.  
  86.     VirusNet offers full detection and removal of every varient of
  87.     the HARE virus.
  88.  
  89.     We have added a Windows based macro detection and removal application,
  90.     specifically written to detect and disinfect Microsoft Word and Excel
  91.     macro viruses.  This program can detect and disinfect over 50 macro
  92.     viruses and Trojans, including the recently reported Laroux Excel
  93.     virus.  Please visit our WWW site to download this program.

  95. Version 2.24 - the following problems were found and corrected:

  97.     The disinfection of the Quandary virus from the hard disk didn't
  98.     work - VirusNet was complaining that the original MBR could not
  99.     be found. Fixed.

  101.     The DelCMOS viruses were not detected in memory. Fixed.
