  1. Thank you for your interest in the CompuServe Information Manager(tm) 
  2. for Windows - WinCIM(r).

  5. Installation Information:

  7. - The WinCIM install process will not overwrite existing sounds defined
  8.   in the WIN.INI file. If the WIN.INI file is updated during setup the
  9.   original WIN.INI file will be saved as WININI.CIM.

  11. - If you are upgrading from WinCIM version 1.0.5 (or earlier) 
  12.   AND you have the "^" character in your password, you will 
  13.   need to re-enter your password the very first time you 
  14.   use WinCIM v1.4.  You only need to do this if you have the 
  15.   password stored in your session settings.

  20. - A context-sensitive Help feature can be accessed from any area of 
  21.   WinCIM by hitting the F1 key.

  23. - Go WINCIM to find WinCIM specific information (i.e., a program 
  24.   description, system requirements, product features, ordering,
  25.   downloading, and support).

  27. - Go WCIMSUPPORT to get on-line Customer Support from the WinCIM
  28.   Support Forum, staffed by senior CompuServe Customer Support 
  29.   representatives.

  32. Miscellaneous Information:

  34. - WinCIM no longer attempts to determine if the text in menus
  35.   and articles is column data.  This type of data should be displayed
  36.   using a fixed font.  If you are presented with column data that is
  37.   not lined up properly, switch to a fixed font by pressing Ctrl-T.  
  38.   To toggle between a fixed font and a proportional font press Ctrl-T.

  40. - International keyboard characters (ISO Latin-1) can be used in 
  41.   WinCIM.  This capability allows WinCIM users to send CompuServe 
  42.   Mail and Forum messages that contain international characters.  
  43.   There are some known limitations to using these characters.

  48. - Sounds (.WAV files) can be associated with WinCIM events (i.e.
  49.   connecting, file transfer completion, etc.).  Sounds can be added 
  50.   and removed through the Sounds module in the Windows Control Panel.

  55. - You can enjoy interacting with CompuServe Hypertext documents. 
  56.   Documents full of color, fonts, graphics, and hot links are available
  57.   on CompuServe. You may read them on-line or save them in the filing 
  58.   cabinet to read later.  (Go ESM for a sample.)

  60. - Use your current Internet network configuration to connect to 
  61.   CompuServe Information Service using the new Window's Sockets
  62.   (WinSock) support. All of the most popular WinSock-compatible
  63.   Internet connection mechanisms can be used to connect to CIS,
  64.   whether they are TCP/IP or PPP dial-up capable.

  66. - Telnet to your favorite Internet hosts using full VT100 terminal 
  67.   emulation.  Additionally, toggle between full VT100 and CIS (partial)
  68.   VT100 terminal emulation modes with a single click.

  70. - Windows file associations are used to view downloaded files. For
  71.   example, you can use File Open to automatically view an Acrobat 
  72.   file using the Acrobat viewer. In addition, other applications can
  73.   be run automatically upon request by the user or the CompuServe host, 
  74.   allowing for robust new application integration with new client 
  75.   software.

  79.   interface from the new CompuServe Conference Center (Go CCC).
