  1. ColorCodes is a Mastermind game for MS Windows.

  12. Version 4.3 of ColorCodes includes the following features:

  14. 1. All features from version 4.2:
  15. The "Undo" feature which allows you to retract guesses made
  16. in CodeBreaker.
  17. The "Hint" feature which automatically makes the next guess for you
  18. in CodeBreaker.
  19.  
  20. 2.  Improved 3D bitmaps for VGA and SVGA users.
  21.  
  22. 3.  A new feature which allows you to toggle back and forth between
  23. your game and the program's game after a Challange round in CodeBreaker.
  24. With this new feature you can compare your game and the program's game.

  28. About 100K is required to install the game on your hard disk.
  29. The game can be run from a floppy disk.  It is recommended that you
  30. make a backup floppy if you do this.

  32. The ColorCodes game package consists of four files:

  35. CC.INI
  36. CC.HLP
  37. CCREADME.TXT

  39. CC.EXE is the executable file for the program.
  40. Windows version 3.0 or higher is required to use the program.
  41. This file is required to use the program.

  43. CC.INI is an initialization file for the program.
  44. This file is required to use the program.
  45.  
  46. CC.HLP is a Windows help file for the program.
  47. It is recommended, but not absolutely required for using the program.
  48. If it is not installed, the help facility for the program will not
  49. be available.

  51. CCREADME.TXT is this file.
  52. It is not required for using the program.
  53. Its installation is completely optional.

  55. If you pass this program on to a friend, please give them all four

  60. To install the ColorCodes game, copy the three files, 
  61. CC.EXE, CC.INI, and CC.HLP to the directory of your choice.
  62.  
  63. If you have a GAMES directory on your hard disk, and the ColorCodes files
  64. are on a floppy in your computer's A: drive, the DOS command to copy
  65. the files is:
  66.  
  67. COPY A:CC.* C:\GAMES
  68.  
  69. Of course, you may copy individual files as follows:
  70.  
  71. COPY A:CC.EXE C:\GAMES
  72. COPY A:CC.INI C:\GAMES
  73. COPY A:CC.HLP C:\GAMES
  74.  
  75. You may also copy the file from the A: floppy drive to your hard disk
  76. from the Windows File Manager as follows:
  77.  
  78. Click on the A: drive icon to log onto the A: drive.
  79. Open the root directory of the A: drive by double clicking on the
  80. folder icon.  A window showing the files in the root directory should
  81. appear.  Resize this window and move it to the side of the directory
  82. tree window.

  84. Click on the C: drive (or whatever harddrive you like) icon.
  85. Open the directory tree sufficiently to reveal the directory into which
  86. you would like to copy the ColorCodes files.  Select the ColorCodes
  87. files in the A: drive root directory window, and drag them over the
  88. appropriate folder icon in the harddrive directory tree window.

  92. You may setup ColorCodes as a program item in a program group in the
  93. Windows Program Manager as follows:
  94.  
  95. Double click on the the program group icon into which you would like to
  96. add the ColorCodes game.  This should open the program group window within
  97. the Program Manager window.  Next select File New... from the Program
  98. Manager's menu.  A dialog box appears with radio buttons for new
  99. program group or new program item.  Click on the new program item
  100. radio button, and then on the dialog box OK button.  A program item
  101. properties dialog box then appears with type-in boxes for description and
  102. command line.  Type "ColorCodes" into the description field.  In the
  103. command line field type the command line required to start the program.
  104. For example, if the program is installed in the C:\GAMES directory,
  105. type "C:\GAMES\CC.EXE" into the command line field.  For Windows 3.1 and
  106. higher, you should also fill in the working directory field.  If the
  107. program is installed in the C:\GAMES directory, type "C:\GAMES" in the 
  108. working directory field.  If everthing is ok, click on the dialog box
  109. OK button, and the ColorCodes icon is added to the program group window.
