The 15 game is a very old game that was at one time built of wood. In my younger days they were made of plastic. Now it is updated once again with the magic of windows.
The game process is simple. You select a picture from the library of 20 pictures to play. The computer chops it up into 16 squares and removes the lower right hand one. The remaining 15 squares are then jumbled around and it's up to you to put it back together again by moving the pieces around using the empty slot. Move pieces by clicking on them with the mouse.
You can customize the operation of the game to a degree through the menu option "Game Settings". You can set the "Solution Display" to "Show" or "Don't Show" the full picture while solving the game. You may turn on a "Game Timer" if you'd like to time yourself. The timer starts when you move the first piece. Last there is the "Sound" option. The little piece of triumphant music that plays when you are successful can be suppressed by selecting "Off".
I find the "Numbers" picture (the traditional 15 game board) to be the easiest to keep which square is which straight and "Stained Glass" to be one of the tougher ones. You may or may not find this to be true for you but I recommend starting with the "Numbers" picture.
