  1. Installation of WinDatCon
  2.  
  3. WinDatCon requires Windows 3.0 or greater, an EGA 
  4. or VGA monitor, and 800 KB available disk space.  
  5.  
  6. 1. Start Windows.
  7.  
  8. 2. Go to the Program Manager.
  9.  
  10. 3. Activate the File menu on the menu bar.
  11.  
  12. 4. Select the Run option.
  13.  
  14. 5. If installing from the A drive, put the WinDatCon
  15.    disk 1 in the A drive and type a:\setup.  Press the
  16.    <Enter> key or click the OK button.
  17.  
  18.    If installing from the B drive, put the WinDatCon
  19.    disk 1 in the B drive and type b:\setup.  Press the
  20.    <Enter> key or click the OK button.

  22.    If installing from the C drive, type c:\path\setup.
  23.    The path is the directory containing the WinDatCon
  24.    files.  Press the <Enter> key or click the OK button.

  26. 6. A dialog box will appear confirming that WinDatCon 
  27.    will be installed in the WinDC directory on the C
  28.    drive.  A different path and directory can be selected 
  29.    if desired.  Click the Continue button to proceed with 
  30.    the installation.

  32. 7. If you are installing from 720 KB or 360 KB disks a
  33.    message will appear instructing you when to insert the
  34.    appropriate disks.

  36. 8. A dialog box will appear indicating that the 
  37.    installation is complete.  Press the <Enter> key or 
  38.    click the OK button and this box will disappear.
  39.  
  40. 9. The setup program creates a WinDatCon Group that will
  41.    be displayed in the Program Manager.  This Group
  42.    contains the WinDatCon icon for launching the program
  43.    and several text file icons.  The following manipulations
  44.    are optional:
  45.        i.  Drag the WinDatCon icon and/or text file icons to
  46.            a more convenient location on the Progam Manager.
  47.       ii.  Read the text files by clicking a text icon.
  48.            This will open the Windows Notepad application
  49.            with the text file displayed.  The file can be
  50.            read or printed.  The remaining text files can
  51.            be opened in the Notepad, or you can return to 
  52.            the WinDatCon Group and select them by clicking
  53.            an icon.
  54.      iii.  The WinDatCon Group window can be minimized by
  55.            clicking the down arrow in the upper right corner
  56.            of this window.  The minimized icon can be
  57.            positioned on the Program Manager.
  58.       iv.  The WinDatCon group can be deleted if the
  59.            WinDatCon icon is moved to a new location in the
  60.            Program Manager and the text file icons are moved 
  61.            or deleted.
  62.      iiv.  Once the positions for the WinDatCon Group and icons
  63.            have been selected, the Program Manager configuration
  64.            can be saved by holding down the Shift key while
  65.            selecting the Exit option (Windows 3.1).
