  23. You require a maximum of 1.7 Mb of free space on your hard disk to 
  24. install Quicktime (TM) 2.0, which is required for the Sampler Disc 
  25. 2 to run. (If you are running a later version of QuickTime, it will 
  26. not be replaced by the installer.)

  28. Once you have checked the necessary space is available you 
  29. should:

  31.     1. Insert the disc into your CD-ROM drive.
  32.     2. Double click on the Quicktime Install icon that appears.
  33.     3. Follow the instructions to install Quicktime on your 
  34. Macintosh
  35.     4. When the installation is complete, double click on the 
  36. projector icon.

  40. 2. General system requirements for running Sampler Disc 2

  45. This Sampler Disc has been created using the Macromedia Director 
  46. (TM) 4.03 for Macintosh. The minimum Macintosh configuration 
  47. recommended for Director 4.03 is as follows:
  48.  
  49.     LC III
  50.     4Mb of RAM
  51.     CD-ROM drive 
  52.     14-inch monitor displaying 256 colors
  53.     Mouse and loudspeakers or headphones
  54.     System 7.01 or later
  55.  
  56. Please note that the Sampler 2 application is designed to run in 
  57. 256 color mode for best performance. The application should 
  58. automatically switch the screen to the correct color depth if it can 
  59. be supported.

  62. 3. Running video clips using Sampler Disc 2

  65. There are a number of video clips included on the CD-ROM, and 
  66. these can be played in three different sizes, although the quality 
  67. of each playback will depend on the power of your Macintosh.

  69. The three sizes are:
  70.  
  71.     - small (240 x 180 pixels)
  72.     - medium (320 x 240 pixels)
  73.     - large (where the 'small' video clip is pixel doubled to 
  74. display at 640 x 480 pixels)

  77. We generally recommend owners of LC III (or comparable) 
  78. machines select the 'small' option, owners of Centris 610 (or 
  79. comparable) machines select the 'medium' option, and owners of 
  80. Centris 650 machines or above try using the 'large' option, 
  81. (Anyone having problems with the overall quality of the video, 
  82. e.g. jerkiness or sound breaking up, should try switching to a 
  83. smaller size display.)

  86. 4. Running out of memory

  89. If the system reports that there is not enough memory to run the 
  90. application:
  91.  
  92.     1. Quit all other applications.
  93.     2. Make sure the monitor is in 256 color mode.
  94.     3. Restart the Sampler 2 application.
