THE FOLLOWING FILES, CHANGES, AND INFORMATION IS FOR OWNERS OF
PACKARD BELL COMPUTERS WHO ARE HAVING COMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS
USING THEIR MOUSE DRIVER WITH THREE-SIXTY'S MEGAFORTRESS.
___________________________________________________________________
PACKARD BELL computers are currently being shipped with their own
mouse driver designated as version 4.00. This mouse driver will not
work with several software products including Three-Sixty's
MEGAFORTRESS. Although you can use other mouse drivers on the Packard Bell,
they cannot be removed from memory without causing the system to hang.
The enclosed pair of mouse drivers and the BATCH file that uses them
lets Packard Bell owners run MEGAFORTRESS using Logitech's software.
Upon exit, the BATCH file will remove the mouse driver from memory
SAFELY!
Before using, rename the file MEGA.EXE to _MEGA.EXE. Place these files
in the same directory that _MEGA.EXE is in and type MEGA from the DOS
prompt to run the simulator.
Packard Bell will be releasing version 5.00 of their mouse driver
in the near future which should rectify all existing compatibility
problems. Until then, this is a simple and easy solution to the problem.
NOTE: MOUSE400.COM is the same mouse driver currently being shipped
with Packard Bell computers. The only difference is that the /R option
to remove the driver from memory no longer asks about TSR memory conflicts.
You may want to rename MOUSE400.COM to MOUSE.COM and make it your
standard MOUSE driver until version 5.00 is released.
