FROM: U.S.A.A.F SO. PACIFIC
TO: ALL AIR MAINTENANCE UNITS
WORK ORDER: 013
-ATTENTION:
IT HAS COME TO THE ATTENTION OF THE USAAF THAT WITH ALL THE GROUND
ATTACK MISSIONS DISTRIBUTED TO YOUR UNIT THAT IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL
TO PAINT YOUR AIRCRAFT OLIVE DRAB. THIS NEW COLOR SCHEME SHOULD
PROVIDE YOUR UNIT WITH ADDITIONAL CAMOUFLAGE.
-INSTALLATION WORK PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: COPY ALL THE FILES CONTAINED IN THIS ZIP INTO THE DIRECTORY
THAT CONTAINS YOUR AOTP FILES (EXCEPT THE WAR-NEWS.TXT).
STEP 2: THAT'S IT, YOUR DONE. WASN'T THAT EASY!
-INFORMATION:
NOTE THAT THE MODIFIED DATA FILES CONTAINED IN THIS ZIP ARE STAND
ALONE FILES. THAT IS THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES DO NOT REQUIRE
YOU TO DO ANY HEX EDITING, NOR DO THEY MAKE ANY PERMANENT CHANGES
TO YOUR EXISTING GAME FILES. AND IF FOR ANY REASON YOU DON NOT
LIKE THE MODIFICATIONS SIMPLY DELETE THE FILES CONTAINED IN THIS
ZIP FROM YOUR AOTP GAME DIRECTORY.
-ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:
BELOW IS A LISTING OF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE, IN ONE WAY OR
ANOTHER, CONTRIBUTED TO THE HEX EDITING ABILITY OF AOTP. WITH
THIS KIND OF TEAM WORK IT WONT BE LONG BEFORE WE HAVE ALL THE
UNKNOWNS FIGURED OUT!
I WANT TO THANK....
1) James "Jaybird" Johnson:
for his inspirational and pioneering on Red Baron. And
for all his personal help in getting me started in
editing Dynamix data.
2) Keith Heitmann:
for his inspirational and pioneering on Red Baron.
3) Bill "Samuri" Ciciora:
for his inspirational and pioneering on Red Baron.
4) Joe "The Maverick" Scoleri:
for his inspirational and pioneering on Red Baron. And
for his extensive document on how to edit Red Baron, it
proved to be very helpful in the development of the
document. I only hope that with everyone contributing
to this document that we can achieve a document as
detailed and informative as Joe's.
5) Kevin M. Fritz:
for his FMD Map corrections.
6) Tim Kilgore:
for his wonderful AOTP editing utility programs!
7) Nicholas Bell:
for his extensive work on the DMG and FMD data files.
Nick is responsible for all the new information on the
engine power ratings and drag factors in the FMD data
that has proven to be very useful!
8) Uwe Serf:
For his extensive work on the TBL data files. Due to
his efforts we can color the planes to just about any
color we desire.
-PROBLEMS:
IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY TYPE OF PROBLEMS I URGE YOU TO ONE
THING BEFORE CONTACTING DYNAMIX. FIRST REMOVE ALL MODIFIED
DATA FILES! NOW IF YOU ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME
PROBLEM, THEN WHEN YOU CONTACT DYNAMIX TO REPORT YOUR PROBLEM
YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE PROGRAM
ITSELF AND NOT THE DUE TO THE MODIFIED DATA FILES! THIS WILL
SAVE YOU AND DYNAMIX ALLOT OF TIME!
-COMPATIBLE AOTP VERSIONS:
THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES HAVE BEEN TESTED AND FOUND TO WORK
WITH:
WWII:1946 V1.1 (PATCH A)
*NOTE: THE 1946 EXPANSION DISK IS REQUIRED DUE TO THE USAGE
OF THE F8F'S WINGS AND TAIL.
-VCR PLAY BACK PROBLEMS:
ONE SIDE EFFECT TO USING THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES IS THAT YOUR
PREVIOUSLY RECORDED VCR FILES WILL MOST LIKELY NOT PLAY BACK
PROPERLY AFTER IMPLEMENTING THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES
(I.E. AIRCRAFT WILL APPEAR TO SHOOT AT A TARGET THAT IS NOT
THERE! ETC.) ALSO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE THAT VIES YOUR VCR FILES
THAT ARE RECORDED WITH THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES WILL HAVE TO
VIEW THEM WITH THE MODIFIED DATA FILES IMPLEMENTED IF YOU OR
THEY PLAN ON REPLAYING A VCR TAPE BACK AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY
RECORDED. ALSO NOTE THAT THIS IS A SURE WAY TO SEE IF ANYONE
UTILIZED THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES DURING A AOTP TOURNAMENT!
-POINT OF CONTACT & CAUTIONARY NOTICES:
IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES I
WILL BE GLAD TO TRY AND HELP YOU! BUT NOTE THAT THE UTILIZATION
OF THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES AND INFORMATION IS AT YOUR OWN
RISK! I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR
DUE TO THE USE OF THIS INFORMATION OR THESE MODIFIED DATA FILES.
NOTE THAT IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE BACKUP COPIES BEFORE
APPLYING ANY NON DYNAMIX MODIFICATION.
