SYNCHRONIZATION DEMO
I hope you have as much fun viewing this as I had making it. SYNCHRO
is a Microsoft Flight Simulator 4 demo that takes off from, circles and
lands on runway 36 at Meigs. The catch is that it does this all in
synchronicity with FS4's built in dynamic scenery (a blue Cessna in this
case).
This demonstration flight was inspired by Jim Ross, who's demo did
much of the same thing, but with more critical timing required by the
operator. My demo, on the other hand, has a mode spliced into it and
starts at precisely the same time that the dynamic scenery starts,
leaving little or no room for lack of sync. Thanks for the idea, Jim -
hope you don't mind that I expanded on it a little.
I also used Laemming Wheeler's "DEMITOR", or Demo Editor, to add the
comments within the demo, and provide some of the views. I like your
program a lot, Mr. Wheeler, and I benefitted greatly from the "MARK"
function. But the "panel()" macro added about 4 hours of production time
for this little demo. If you can get that one worked out, then consider
me a registered user!
All you need to do to run this demo is MAKE SURE that you are
originally located anywhere in the FS4 world EXCEPT Meigs. If you start
out in Meigs and then run the demo, the dynamic scenery will have already
started and the demo, while still a great takeoff and landing tutorial,
will fly alone instead of with the Cessna out of Meigs. So, having made
sure you're SOMEWHERE ELSE (Oakland, New York, etc.), press "1" to bring
up the mode menu, "H" to bring up the demo menu, then "6" as many times
as required until you see the "SYNCHRO" demo. Press the number that
corresponds to "SYNCHRO", then press the <SPACEBAR>, sit back, and enjoy!
I've got a Files area on my board exclusively for Flying Simulator
support (modes, aircraft, etc.). If you're interested in more auxillary
files for FS4, or have some you'd like to add to the library (YEAH!),
please call The Software Review BBS in Norfolk, VA, at 804-626-0452. I
can also be reached on RelayNet: route to "->TWEXCH" in the COMMON
conference {R/O capable}.
Happy Flying,
Rick Esterling
