British Aerospace 146-300 Short-haul Commercial Transport
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
History
*******
Manufactured in the UK this is aircraft part of the 'new generation' of
enviromentally friendly whisper-jets of which over 300 have so far been
ordered.
The variants which are available include a passenger aircraft with seating
for 103 in rows five abreast upto a maximum of 123 (standard crew is usually
2 on the flight deck and three cabin attendants), the 'QT' (Quiet Trader) a
dedicated freighter which is used by TNT in the USA and Europe for night
freight operations (this aircraft is the only type allowed to use major UK
airports after midnight!) and a 'QC' (Quick Change) convertable passenger/
freight version.
A recent update in power plants to the Textron Lycoming LF507 turbofan, 4
of which provide 7000lb st (31.13 kN) of thrust, allows an increase of some
4000lbs in the gross weight, a greater payload and a 173 mile (278km)
increase in max-payload range to 1197 miles (1927km). Normal range maximum
using standard fuel load is 1750 miles (2817km).
Performance details include a maximum cruise speed of 494mph (795km/h) at
26000ft (7925m) with a long-range cruise of 434mph (699km/h) at 29000ft
(8840m). Operational empty weight is 56185lb (25485kg) and the maximum take
off weight is 97500lb (44225kg); operational high gross weight is 101500lb
(46040kg).
The important dimensions are:- Span 86ft 0in (26.21m); Length 101ft 8in
(30.99m); Height 28ft 3in (8.61m); wing area 832sq ft (77.30m2).
AAF Design by Peter Leadbeater
******************************
The BAe146-300 is depicted in the colours of Air Pierre, 'my own' airline!
This aircraft represents my first attempt at aicraft design using BAO's
'Aircraft & Adventure Factory'. Whilst the aircraft 'flies' OK, some mods/
tweeks may be needed to the flight characteristics; all comments please
indicating which numbers in the aircraft designer need the adjusting!!
