  1.                         FLIGHT SIMULATOR 4
  2.                                MODES

  5. This group of MODES are for use with Microsoft's Flight Simulator 
  6. Version 4.0.  They include simulations from the default scenery as 
  7. well as SubLogic's Scenery Disks 2,3,5,7,9,11,Europe and Japan.

  9. Most MODES are arranged for departure from major airports found
  10. in the appropriate scenery.  The DOS name for each MODE is
  11. prefaced with the Scenery Disk number (i.e. 2-PHX08L) followed
  12. by the airport 3-letter identifier and runway.  (The above 
  13. example is Scenery Disk 2, Phoenix (PHX) Sky Harbor Airport, 
  14. Runway 08 Left (08L)).

  16. Window #1 is set for the front view from the cockpit with the 4-
  17. dot visual indicator for approaches.  By hitting "S" you are
  18. transported to the Tower view.
  19.  
  20. Window #2 defaults to the spot plane about 50 feet behind your
  21. tail.  Window #3 is the Map display.  All three windows are set
  22. for full 1/2 screen display above the cockpit instruments.  Remember
  23. to use  [ ' for window #1,  ] ' for #2 and  NUM LOCK ' for
  24. the map display.  The  ' brings the window forward.

  26. I have disabled the sound, crash detect and auto-coupled rudder
  27. and ailerons.  This is my preference, though you can modify the
  28. MODES to your own delight.

  30. Some of the non-departure MODES include:
  31.  
  32.     7-SHUTAP    Scenery Disk 7- Final approach to the Cape
  33.             Canaveral Shuttle Landing Pad.
  34.  
  35.     M-LAXAPP    Main Scenery- A 50 mile straight in approach 
  36.             to LAX from about 14,000 feet over Ontario.
  37.  
  38.         M-BALOON        Main Scenery- See a hot-air balloon near
  39.                         Port Angeles, WA(NW of Seattle).

  41. I have saved each of these MODES using the Lear 25.  If you 
  42. prefer to use another plane, select that plane before you choose
  43. the MODE and then, from the "MODE LIBRARY" screen (1-F), de-select
  44. option C "Load aircraft if saved with mode."
