Ok, this file will help you if you chose to go via the overland trek,
(by stage coach).
Problem:
I've joined the Long Island Joint Mining and Stock Company and all
I'm doing is wandering around. What am I supposed to do?
Hint:
Find the Captain.
Hint:
Okay, I've found the Captain. Try talking to him. He has
something for you to do.
Hint:
The Captain is in need of money. Why don't you give him your
money.
Problem:
The Captain told me to get animals for the wagon train. Help! Where
do I get the animals needed for the long journey?
Hint:
Go to where the Captain told you to go.
Hint:
From where the captain stands, go south and that is where the
the animals are kept. Talk to the captain again when you get
back to camp.
Problem:
The Captain told me to advised the company when to leave. How do I
know when to go?
Hint:
Go when the plains are not too green nor too muddy.
Hint:
Go when the plains are getting greener everyday.
Hint:
Oh, the plains are to the north of camp. Just type "look
plains". It should tell you when they are getting greener.
Hint:
When the plains just turn green tell the captain to head west.
Problem:
The animals and wagon keep getting stuck in mud. Can I keep them from
sinking?
Hint:
Yes.
Hint:
You left Independence when the plains were too muddy.
Next time try leaving a little later.
Hint:
Leave when the plains are greener.
Problem:
The Company has come to a steep hill and my thirsty team of
animals keep pulling the wagon over the hill. What can I do so
this won't happen?
Hint:
Have you tried just letting the animals go by themselves.
Hint:
What about unhitching the team from the wagon. This should
allow them to get something to drink and return to the
company.
Problem:
The team of animals keeps pulling my wagon over the cliff. How can I
stop them?
Hint:
On this steep hill your animals can't hold the wagon back by
themselves.
Hint:
Don't you wish you could lock the wheels some how? Look at the
wheels.
Hint:
When your animals are hitched up again type, "Lock wheels".
Problem:
In the desert, I keep dying from thirst and starvation. Where can I
find food and water?
Hint:
Have you tried looking around for it.
Hint:
Look in the wagon you might find something in there.
Hint:
Water is usually kept in a barrel of somesort.
Hint:
The barrel has water and the wagon has meat in it. Eat the meat
and drink the water.
Problem:
My Team just cannot make it through the heat of the desert. What's
Wrong?
Hint:
You team is not used to the extreme temperatures.
Hint:
Maybe your team was not mature enough for a long journey.
Hint:
My guess is that the mature oxen would of been a better choice.
Since they've been around and can take a lot of abuse.
Problem:
An early winter has set in. What did I do this time?
Hint:
You left the camp too late. Leave alittle sooner.
Hint:
Leave when you notice the plains are getting greener everyday.
Ok, thats it for the overland trek, now if your still having trouble,
check out the file on Sutters Fort, and the town of Coloma.
