Soar the Blue Ridge Mountains!!!
I specifically designed this scenery for soaring the mountains of
western North Carolina. There are a number of thermals placed
around the scenery creating ridge lift and true thermal lift
(especially in the vicinity of lakes and in wide valleys).
There are few airfields in this part of the country, so I put much
of the creative effort into making as realistic mountain scenery as
possible. The major peaks, towns and roadways are in their
approximate locations, although due to the inaccuracies inherent to
the FS scenery some scenery "fudging" and simplification has
occurred.
Some of this scenery lies in the area covered by SD-7, but I
recommend staying with the default FS scenery for best results,
then manually loading the SD-7 scenery when you approach Charlotte
(see note below).
The SEE04 enhanced files include the western portion (NCWEST01.SC1)
and the eastern portion (NCWEST02.SC1) of the scenery region.
I have test-flown the scenery and it should load automatically if
you set up FS to do so. I shouldn't hope you need to manually load
the scenery when using the two SEE enhanced files.
At night virtually all scenery detail goes to black, including some
pretty tall mountains...this makes for some interesting flying
after dark!
Points of Interest:
Due to the high density of the scenery only major landmarks have
been included.
The city of Asheville lies to the north of Asheville Regional
airport. North and west of the city are the Blue Ridge mountains.
NCWEST.SC1 includes the major mountain peaks of the region
including Little Pisgah (4412 ft.), Big Pisgah (5749 ft.), and Mt.
Mitchell (at 6684 ft the highest peak east of the Mississippi).
All major lakes and reservoirs are included as well.
Note: This scenery will merge with another file I'm developing for
the Charlotte, NC region which will enable you to fly into the area
covered by SD-7. I hope to release as soon as possible.

appreciated.
