Interrupt settings
When speech was added to F117A, we put in support for DMA digital speech on
the Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro, and compatibles, such as the ATI
F/X board and the MediaVision Thunderboard. The use of DMA allows speech
without pausing the game. (If your interrupt setting is not correct, you
will still get speech, but the game will stop while the speech is playing)
Because the new driver was a retrofit, we had to settle for using the
factory default interrupt setting (IRQ 7). A small percentage of users have
changed the interrupt setting on their cards because of interrupt conflicts
in their computers. These drivers allow for use on interrupts 2,3,5 and 6.
To use them, first rename your old ASOUND.117 driver (to ASOUND.OLD, for
example) then copy the ASNDIRQ?.VGA file (insert correct interrupt number at
the ?) to ASOUND.117. Of course, if you have the EGA version of the game,
copy the ASNDIRQ?.EGA file instead.
