  4.      The ROUTENAV.ZIP file should contain the following files:
  5.  
  6.      * ROUTENAV.EXE:     The Main Program
  7.      * NAVIGATE.EXE:     The Flight Planning Module.  You cannot run this
  8.                          alone.  It must be run from ROUTENAV
  9.      * A.IDX through
  10.        Z IDX:            The Navaid Database Files
  11.      * AIRCRAFT.DAT:     The Aircraft Database File
  12.      * ROUTENAV.DOC:     The ROUTENAV Manual
  13.      * README.TXT:       This File
  14.  
  15.      NOTE:     ROUTENAV will create a file called SETUP.OVL when you
  16.                configure the program.

  18.      Evaluation Version Restrictions:
  19.  
  20.      The evaluation version of the program is the same as the official
  21.      version except:
  22.  
  23.      *    You may only access navaids from the default Flight Simulator
  24.           (TM) Scenery.
  25.      *    You may only save up to four routes
  26.      *    You may not add or edit navaids

  35.       *      Fixed the 0.0 fuel consumption problem.  When you entered
  36.              a decimal point in the Fuel Consumption field when
  37.              entering a new aircraft, the fuel for each leg of the
  38.              flight plan came out as 0.0.
  39.  
  40.       *      Disabled the mouse on the subscreens where field input is
  41.              required.  The program would crash if the mouse was used
  42.              to select a field on a subscreen (IAS settings,
  43.              Frequencies, etc.).

  48.       *      Added an "Airport Database Not Found" check.  If the
  49.              directory for the database files specified in the SETUP
  50.              menu was incorrect, or did not contain any database
  51.              files, the program would crash.  ROUTENAV now displays
  52.              "Airport Database Not Found" and asks you to check the
  53.              setup directories.

  55.       *      Fixed the program crash if an IDX file did not exist. 
  56.              When the program searches the database, it searches each
  57.              IDX file (A-Z) alphabetically.  The X.IDX file contains
  58.              no airports, so the file length is 0.  If you tried to
  59.              copy the *.idx files from one place to another from DOS,
  60.              DOS would not copy the X.IDX file because it contained 0
  61.              bytes.  Therefore, when ROUTENAV was searching the
  62.              database, it would try to read the X.idx file, but would
  63.              crash when it didn't find it.  The program now will
  64.              create an IDX file if it finds the major files (M, N, R,
  65.              S, T), but doesn't find the one it's looking for.
  66.      INSTALLATON:

  68.      To install ROUTENAV, simply go to the directory you want to use as the
  69.      ROUTENAV directory and UNZIP the ROUTENAV.ZIP file.  For example, if
  70.      ROUTENAV.ZIP is on drive A: and you wanted ROUTENAV in C:\ROUTENAV,
  71.      you would go to the C:\ROUTENAV directory and type PKUNZIP A:ROUTENAV
  72.      (assuming PKUNZIP.EXE is in the path).  The ROUTENAV files will then
  73.      be uncompressed in the C:\ROUTENAV directory.  Type ROUTENAV to run
  74.      the program.  The first thing you should do when you run the program
  75.      is select SETUP from the main screen to enter your preferences.

  77.      To run ROUTENAV, make sure you are in the directory containing
  78.      ROUTENAV.EXE and type ROUTENAV and press the ENTER key.

  80.      Refer to the ROUTENAV.DOC file for ROUTENAV operation.

  82.      NOTE:     ROUTENAV is the result of many months work.  Any comments
  83.                about problems with the program, or possible future
  84.                enhancements are greatly appreciated.  I am not currently a
  85.                private pilot, but I have been studying aviation for the
  86.                past four years.  My hope, is that the proceeds from
  87.                ROUTENAV will be enough to finally get my private ticket.
