ILASPIKF.SC1
This ASD static scenery file provides detail for the Springfield,
Illinois area, including Capital Airport (SPI), in addition to that
supplied by SD-9, which is recommended.
Springfield, which is the capital of Illinois, has a number of
landmarks, some of which are detailed in this file, and has been home
at one time or another for many great and not so great people like
Abraham Lincoln and your author. Lake Springfield, south of the city
is a major landmark and recreational area.
Capital Airport is a full service field shared by commercial, Air
National Guard and general aviation operations, and has ILS and
published Instrument Approach Procedures for both ends of its primary
runway 4/22. This file includes all navaids and runway/taxiway/ramp
details.

ILSPIRMP.MOD
This MOD file sets you up on the general aviation ramp at Capital
Airport. After you have coffee you can explore the area's landmarks
and go on to St. Louis or Chicago. The route to both destinations is
well marked by Interstate 55 (I remember it as route 66). Champaign
is east on I-72 after Decatur.
Mountains (are you kidding) are not a factor in this area, but
man made obstructions are, and there are many of them in the vicinity,
so be careful.
