You only get 100 years to play with this game, and to me that SUCKED!
I was just getting my company going good when the damn game would end...
So I fixed it (Sorta)...When your 100 yrs is up and if you would like
to play for another 100 yrs, simply run RRTYEAR.EXE and select your last
saved game (Preferably save your game right before you 100 years is up...
ie...if you start in 1830, save your game in December 1929). What this
cheat does is take your current year and place that in the year started
offset in your saved game file. So if you save in 1929, instead of the
game ending in 1930 you will go onto 2029 before your game will end.
I've only tested this in the game for a couple of years and had no probs.
Only thing that will be affected is....Stock Prices...some will soar,
some will plummet....Why? Well as I see it...instead of your company
having been around for 100 yrs...you are now a brand new company in it's
first year (after running the cheat), your stock price is at $200/share
or so....hence...your doing fu@#ing great according to the game....plus
you have all these trains and land and everything else in just your 1st
year. That's how I see it. Anyway, in perspective...it will even out.
Those companies that were flurishing before you ran the cheat will still
be flurishing, and those that were sucking wind will be sucking even more
of it....just a bit more on both sides than before. I may mess with the
stock prices just to keep them the same, then again I may not...just
depends on the elastic in my briefs.
P.S.
Oh, you can run this as many times as you want, whenever you want in your
game. You don't have to wait until your 100 years is up. The game may
have a limit on years, I dunno..but will soon find out I bet! It may be
that it ends in 1990 no matter what you have your starting date at (Because
the latest you can start a game is 1890). I set my starting date to the
year 2010 manually last night, although my current year was 1930. I of
course had no stock reports (because to the game, my company was not yet
even formed)...kind of a Back to the Future scenario. It completely fucked
over some trains and ruined one part of my tracks, but I deleted the trains
and created new ones in their place and fixed the track as best I could and
the game went fine from there. So as far as that went it looks as though
the date can be over 1990. Who knows...
